EVELYN Harris’ four winners might have highlighted Friday’s Casino meeting, but ever-consistent Black County stole the show with a best of day performance.

Black County (Bralyn County-Samadhi Babe) ran 27.85 to win a 484m 5th grade for owner-trainer Amanda Rayner, leading throughout to win by four and a half lengths.

He downed Blackflash Magic with three lengths to Kingsbrae Boof in third.
The winner started a $1.60 favourite and landed his 12th victory in just 25 starts.

He is the only dog in training with Rayner who describes him as a “ladies dog” who will make the greatest of house pets when he finally retires from racing.

Rayner helps Grafton trainer Dave Irwin with his team of dogs and it was through Irwin – who at one time trained both the sire and dam – that she was able to pick out Black County as a pup.

Now she is planning on heading to Wentworth Park with Black County for a Wednesday graded race.

“He is a very honest dog with a great nature,” said Rayner of Black County.
“And he is a stunning looking dog. He is not an outgoing dog but he has pretty good early pace. He has trialled around Wentworth Park. I will target a Wednesday race first with him.”

Friday’s victory was Black County’s second at Casino although he is a prolific Grafton winner (Rayner lives a few minutes out of that town) and has also twice won at Maitland.

Evelyn Harris dominated the meeting with four winners.

Good To Know ran 23.49 to win a 411m Maiden leading throughout to down Knock Me Over and Belle’s Biddy.

Nash Bonus landed a 484m 4th-5th Grade in 28.25 beating Water Boy and Tijuana Tempo after being handy throughout.

Black Lee Bonus won the top grade in 23.56 also leading for most of the way beating Zani Vale and Lara Saint.

And Dark Sprite utilised a rails draw by winning a 411m Masters in 23.94, beating Gunho Storm and Bralyn Ice. Dark Sprite started $1.40.

Fiona Geary and father Garry also enjoyed a successful day out, landing a winning double, with Kikem Kreation (36.65) and Oh So Fabio (23.69) both victorious on the program in impressive fashion.
