All Natural To Leap Out Of Jay's Shadow In Egg

QUEENSLAND'S Group 1 Golden Easter Egg finalist, All Natural, is unbeaten in three starts from box six where he is drawn for the final on Saturday.

QUEENSLAND'S Group 1 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg finalist, All Natural, is unbeaten in three starts from box six where he is drawn for the grand finale on Saturday night.

And joint trainers, Selena and Mick Zammit, believe he can win the Egg final from that draw.

All Natural, a Sennachie and Kealoah litter brother to Million Dollar Chase winner, superstar Jay Is Jay, ran 29.63 to win his semi-final of the Egg last Saturday night.

He downed Nangar Jim by three and a half lengths.

Price framers have made him a $12 chance.

“The box is not really his worry,” said Mick Zammit today.

“He's had three starts from the six and won them all.

“He will go straight from the boxes and he is happy to go around dogs at the first turn rather than want to crash to the fence.”

All Natural has lived in the shadow of his illustrious litter brother until recent months when he has taken his career record to 39 starts for 21 wins and 13 placings earning $300,000.

He recently set a track record and won the Group 2 Bundaberg Cup, and was beaten a head when second to Morton in the Group 1 Gold Bullion at Albion Park leading to the shadows of the post.

He went into the Egg series without a look at Wentworth Park and it is obvious he is coming to terms with the Wenty starting boxes in his two starts in the series, second in his heat and then winning the semi.

Both times he began well without beginning as quickly as he has been in previous starts at Albion Park and Bundaberg.

All Natural is raced by three schoolmates, Max Grieve-Jones, Angus Wallace and Beau Bourke. Max's grandmother Lillian Jones bred the litter and owns Jay is Jay.

Mick Zammit will spend this week studying the way the Egg field handles itself out of the boxes.

“Our chances all depend on how the rest of them come out and what they do to the first turn – especially the favourite Mackenna,” he said.

“He's over the odds at $12.”

Queenslanders have won three Golden Easter Eggs, in 1999 by Peter Rayner's Faithful Hawk, 2004 by Tony Brett and Les Bein's Bogie Leigh, and 2012 by Don't Knocka Him although the latter was trained in Victoria by Jason Thompson at the time, but bred, owned and trained for a deal of his career by Reg Kay.
