Five On The Trot For Flowing?

WHILST it will be of little solace to punters that missed out on the juicy odds on offer at Gosford on Tuesday night, Jason Mackay expects the in-form Flowing to continue on her winning way at Wentworth Park this Saturday night.

Actually, he's all but declared her.

Heavily supported in the lead up to her Gosford debut on Tuesday – firming from 10/1 into 5/1 before the boxes opened – Flowing (Fabregas x Veetee Express) was ultra-impressive scoring in a best of night 29.45, extending her winning sequence to four since joining Mackay, following her transfer from owner Vince Tullio in Victoria as the winner at one of her 15 starts.

"Vince called me after the win last night and the first thing he said to me was that I've made a mug out of him," joked Mackay.

"When Vince said he wanted to send her up to have a go with I said no problems but I hadn't looked at her form at that stage.

"When she got here and I'd seen she'd won just one of 15 I called Vince and said are you sure you've sent the right dog? What am I meant to do with this?

“Last week I called him and said Vince, have you got any more?"

Set to go around cramped odds at headquarters on Saturday night from box one, Mackay is predicting another bold showing, all but declaring the daughter of Fabregas with the benefit of the red alley, the first time she's drawn the inside in her 19 start career.

"I'd say she'll run around the 29.80 mark and go mid 5.40's early – she just looks a good thing," declared Mackay.

"When she came here she was very low on confidence, everything was erratic, it took me 3-4 weeks to get her thyroid right which is really important in bitches. Looking at her now you wouldn't know it's the same dog. She's full of confidence and is taking that into her races.

"I knew she had a motor the day I trialled her with Zipping Bailey over 400m at The Gardens. Bailey led her two lengths and only beat her two lengths. I thought something was wrong and then I looked and saw they'd run 22.50 with an 11.47 run home. I knew then we had something to work with."

Early markets have Flowing $2.30 favourite for the sixth event on Saturday night, slightly ahead of Another Grey, a $2.80 second elect for Warren and Jill Harper.

"She'll have a crack at the Richmond Oaks after Saturday night, I reckon Richmond will suit her down to the ground, later on she'll make a really nice 600m bitch as well – there's only upside with her," added Mackay.

Flowing's Gosford success on Tuesday continued a whirlwind few days for her owner Vince Tullio, claiming the Group 1 Rookie Rebel (600m) at The Meadows on Saturday night with his top chaser Deliver, the son of Fernando Bale landing a second Group 1 for trainer Seona Thompson.

And while Mackay is rejoicing over the terrific recent form exhibited by Flowing, the Richmond Vale conditioner is equally over the moon with the return to racing of Zipping Bailey, set to take her place in Friday afternoon's $5,100 to-the-winner Red Dog Final (600m) at Ladbrokes Gardens.

"She got sat on her backside early and still won her heat by 10 on Friday in 34.75 so I don't know what she would have ran had she gone around untouched," said Mackay of the Ladbrokes Gardens 515m track record holder.

"If she rolls straight to the front on Friday I've got no doubt she can break the record (34.18). She'll definitely make a very good 650m bitch, I don't know if she'll get the 720m strongly but if she doesn't she'll still be a long way in front of whatever is chasing her."
