Box Draw For $600,000 The Sandgroper Revealed

THE all important box draw for Thursday night's $600,000 The Sandgroper (520m) at Cannington is being conducted on Monday morning.

Set to line-up in the $300,000-to-the-winner showpiece, which will kickstart the Western Trilogy Tri-Code Series, is Explicit (Punters HQ), Hector Fawley (Ladbrokes), Big Energy (Mintbet), Sunset Frazier (Aaron Bain Racing/Summit Bloodstock), Mepunga Smokey (RAM Racing Syndicate), Fernando Phil (Sportsbet), Morton (TABtouch) and Trooper Tears (Total Container Solutions/Team Britton).

Pre-box draw favourite for the race is the Kel Greenough-trained Big Energy at $3.00 just ahead of Group 1 winner Explicit at $3.30.

In a wide open betting affair, fellow group 1 winner Morton is on the next line at $7.50 just ahead of recent Perth Cup finalist Trooper Tears at $8.00.

Following the box draw, Big Energy was the big mover after drawing the coveted rails alley, tumbling all the way into $2.25 while Explicit drifted to $4.40 after drawing the extreme outside.

Morton and Trooper Tears remained largely unchanged at $6 and $6.50 after drawing boxes two and seven respectively.
