The field is set for Saturday night's Group 1 Ladbrokes Golden Easter Egg Final (520m) at Wentworth Park.

Favourite for the $350,000-to-the-winner decider is budding superstar Mackenna which has been breathtaking in the opening two rounds of the series.

Here is a runner by runner guide as to why each runner can and can't win the group 1 showpiece.

1. FERNESS

Record: 14 starts, 6 wins 4 placings P/M: $24,600

Wentworth Park best: 29.71 Price: $21

CAN WIN: Extremely talented youngster that hasn't yet reached his ceiling. Terrific semi-final second to Nangar Larry and box one in big races is always a huge leg up.

CAN'T WIN: Will tackle the final yet to win a Wentworth Park race with four seconds from five starts. Given his age and inexperience and tendency to shift right early, this may prove a bit too soon.

2. MACKENNA

Record: 16 starts, 11 wins 2 placings P/M: $59,095

Wentworth Park best: 29.20 Price: $2.00

CAN WIN: Yes and on facts and figures she should win and win well. High price purchase which has been breathtaking in the opening two rounds and the draw should not pose any real concerns. Her race to lose.

CAN'T WIN: Hard to find any real chink given what we've witnessed. Can she repeat such lofty performances three starts on end? No reason to suggest not but if there is a question that is probably it.

3. ZIPPING MEGATRON

Record: 11 starts, 8 wins 2 placings P/M: $53,460

Wentworth Park best: 29.42 Price: $4.60

CAN WIN: Played second fiddle to Mackenna in the semi-finals but was courageous in finishing runner-up and qualifying. Loves Wentworth Park and is hugely talented. The testing material if can get mobile early.

CAN'T WIN: For all of his sheer ability he lacks that blistering speed early which makes this a taller order. Will need to deal with pressure from 4-5 early too.

4. NAD AL SHEBA

Record: 32 starts, 15 wins 13 placings P/M: $81,260

Wentworth Park best: 29.51 Price: $6.00

CAN WIN: Ran a career best 29.51 to win his semi-final and if he reels off between 5.38 to 5.41 early can put himself right in the race. Needs to nail the start and rely on the favourite putting a foot wrong – as they all do.

CAN'T WIN: Can he back up his career best semi-final success? Been hit and miss early in the few big ones he's tackled and this is his first time out of the middle at headquarters as well.

5. NANGAR JIM

Record: 30 starts, 15 wins 11 placings P/M: $149,740

Wentworth Park best: 29.76 Price: $14.00

CAN WIN: Never shirked his task when second to All Natural in the semi-finals making another big race final, running a scorching 5.38 early. Two-time cup winner and 11 of his 15 wins have come from 6 to 8 so likes the wide-ish draw.

CAN'T WIN: For all his talent and consistency 29.75 odd pulls him up at headquarters and that just might not be enough to land this high octane affair. Regardless of the result it's been a wonderful effort thus far and worth nothing he beat Nad Al Sheba in the Maitland Cup which is half his price here.

6. ALL NATURAL

Record: 39 starts, 21 wins 13 placings P/M: $299,615

Wentworth Park best: 29.63 Price: $12.00

CAN WIN: If he wasn't Jay Is Jay's brother would be an outright superstar himself. If he wins on Saturday he will be. Has had 13 starts since September for 11 wins and 2 seconds, one of those a nose second at G1 level. Will be better for another WPK look going to this week. Over the odds at $12.

CAN'T WIN: Box six likely to be either a help or a hindrance. If there's pressure down below could get the fly or get cluttered and posted which will equate to game over. Can't put a step wrong the way the draw has fallen.

7. NANGAR LARRY

Record: 42 starts, 21 wins 11 placings P/M: $162,095

Wentworth Park best: 29.53 Price: $12.00

CAN WIN: 19 WPK starts for 8 wins and 7 placings and isn't one dimensional, leading or coming from off the pace. Gritty semi win and has a knack of getting himself into proceedings and of course trained by one of the best in the business. Placed in January's G1 Paws Of Thunder.

CAN'T WIN: Doesn't have a flash record from box seven which means he has the job ahead. Will be relying on luck if he can't produce a career best first split.

8. MARVEL ZOMBIE

Record: 43 starts, 9 wins 25 placings P/M: $45,020

Wentworth Park best: 29.64 Price: $31.00

CAN WIN: Outsider of the field and understandably so but stranger things have happened. Had box eight at WPK three times for three seconds – a common theme given he runs a lot of minors.

CAN'T WIN: Has just the one win at WPK beside his name as he's renowned for more often than not finding one or two better. Great effort to qualify and a top 4 finish wouldn't surprise.
