Silver Chief Begins Saturday

The Meadows will play host to eight fantastic heats of the Group 1 Feikuai Greyhounds Silver Chief over 525 metres this Saturday night – a race steeped in history for the fastest young males in the country.

Sixty-four of the finest male sprinters will be looking for a top four finish this weekend in order to progress to the semi-final stage on December 29. The January 5 final – the first Group 1 of the 2019 season – carries a prizemoney purse of $145,000, with winners and runner's up from the four semi-finals earning their spot in the black type event.

Training duo Jeff Britton and Angela Langton go into the series with a nine-pronged attack, including star West Australian sprinter Chips And Trains, and impressive youngsters Black Signature and Black Hornet.

Some of this Saturday night's highlights include:

Heat two – The classy Blue Striker (box seven) will be looking to get back into the winner's circle, and he takes on Shepparton Vic Breeders winner Back Burn (box five) and impressive Sandown Maiden winner Freakish Talent (box two).

Heat three – Aston Kimetto (box four) – fresh off his incredible Ballarat Cup victory – returns to The Meadows for the first time in over three months to face off against Horsham track record holder Got Some Wheels (box two) and brilliant Queensland chaser Rio Brave (box seven).

Heat five – The unbeaten South Australian star Sennachie (box seven) makes his Victorian debut after a sizzling 29.50 win at Angle Park last start. He will race against Group 1 Vic Peters winner Deliver (box six) and seven-time race winner Major Innings (box five).

Heat six – Melbourne Cup Night Sprint winner Barooga Brett (box two) will take on the very speedy Jebrynah (box one), who has won six of his seven race starts, and Black Hornet (box five), who debuted at The Meadows last week, scoring in 29.94.

Heat seven – NSW raider Fantastic Yankee (box two) is fresh off a sizzling 29.58 victory at Wentworth Park and competes against the Group-placed Axel Footluce (box eight) and Melbourne Cup heat runner-up Slingshot Hammer (box seven).

The first heat on Saturday kicks off at 7.38pm (AEDT)
