SUCCESSFUL breeder Barry Smith looks to have uncovered another potential topliner after a brilliant debut win by Mepunga Bella in a heat of the Geelong Maiden Vic Breeders (400m) last Friday afternoon.
The daughter of Bella Infrared and Mepunga Hayley began cleanly before putting the foot on the accelerator, powering to the line in a sizzling 22.35 – the best time among the eight heats.
The second fastest heat win belonged to another debutant in Barooga Brett, a son of Barcia Bale and Destini Gold, who got stronger as the race went on, stopping the clock in 22.44. His run home time of 14.01 was the best among the heats.
The Fernando Bale – Magic Diva litter continues to impress, with another debutant from the litter scoring well. Mini Diva sizzled to the first mark in 8.26 before holding on to defeat Reid Star in 22.69.
Other heat winners included So Apparent (22.68), Manarola (23.03), Yuko (22.76), Flying Rose (23.20) and Total Mayhem (22.68).
