TAB Background

The Totalisator Agency Board was launched as a statutory body in 1961 under the Racing Act in order to legalise off-track betting for thoroughbred and harness racing (Greyhound racing was added to the fold in 1966). This allowed punters to legally wager on these events without having to front up to the track.
The TABs all began life as government agencies before they were privatised, starting with the Victoria TAB in 1964. The parent company became Tabcorp, headquartered in Melbourne, and it listed on the ASX in 1994.
It has since gone on to purchase a number of betting companies across Australia, including Star City Holdings, Jupiters Limited, Tab Limited and Keno, becoming the country’s largest operator in the process. In 2017 the firm announced a merger with rival Australian bookie Tatts.

TAB Review: Summary

The TAB is a subsidiary of Tabcorp Holdings Limited, a leading gambling entertainment company that is currently one of the world's largest publicly-listed gambling companies. TAB has a huge footprint in Australia, not least because it runs the two largest totalisator pools.

The TAB represents the main arm of Tabcorp’s Wagering and Media division, especially now that brands like Luxbet and UBET have been discontinued in the last 18 months. The business has a huge number of physical retail outlets across all Australian states to help facilitate a smooth betting experience on the horses, the dogs and sports.
The TAB has always been at the forefront of online sports wagering and the website was completely overhauled in 2012. It has since benefited from a number of updates and the result is a smooth, clean and user-friendly site. It is easy to navigate and allows customers 24-hour access to TAB betting services and getting your bets on in a quick and simple fashion. It covers a wide range of markets, with reasonable odds, and the app is market leading.

TAB Review Roundup

If you do not yet have an account with TAB, you can sign up today and take advantage of a generous promotion for new customers. There are plenty of compelling reasons to place your Greyhound bets with the TAB, as it offers great market coverage in a clean, simple interface, while adding in plenty of exciting features. It is a great hub for punters, offering live streaming, blog posts and live betting. However, the lack of a specialist live blog for greyhound racing is somewhat disappointing.

The TAB also have a dedicated section for Greyhound Racing Tips and have previously sponsored events like Thursday Night Wings in Victoria up until May this year where the TAB have offered special promotions especially for Greyhound punters. In addition the TAB have teamed with Greyhound Racing Victoria to deliver the annual Great Chase series over the last 16 years, delivering great opportunities for racing enthusiasts, participants and regional community disability groups.
