TopSport is owned and operated by the Merlehan family. A long-time rails bookmaker, Lloyd Merlehan has over three decades’ experience in bookmaking and has long been an innovator in the industry. Step by Step Guide to Placing a Bet with TopSport
Note: This guide will be for placing a regulation win bet for a horse race.
STEP 1:
To place a bet, load-up TopSport’s website, and log into your account. You can select a market from the quick menu located on the left side of the homepage. There is also a Racing Quick-Link at the top of the page near the website header.
Click ‘Racing’.
STEP 2:
The Racing Summary page will now be displayed. Each upcoming race on the day is shown with race start time and countdown to start.
Click on the race you are interested in. Australian racing will always be shown at the top. You can toggle options between Horse, GreyHound, Harness and Futures.
Note: Resulted Races are always shown as a shaded grey box.
STEP 3
You’ll then be taken to a page where you can see all the available bet types on the upper tab, as well as the competing horses on the left and their respective prices on the centre right:
Make your runner selection by clicking their Odds Box in the Win/PLACE column. You can choose a fixed price or a tote price.
STEP 4:
The Bet Slip will automatically pop-up on the right side of the page. Manually enter your Stake Amount.
Press Confirm to place the bet.

In putting together a TopSport website review, there’s perhaps less to talk about than some other corporate bookmakers. The TopSport website is undeniably more ‘basic’ – for want of a better term – than the bells-and-whistles-covered betting websites you might find elsewhere.

The TopSport racing pages are true to the rest of the website – simple, easy to navigate and importantly, fast to load. So when you’re rushing to get that bet on before the jump, the TopSport website won’t let you down.
TopSport uses the three-column arrangement that most punters strongly prefer. In the middle of the page, the next three races to jump will appear, with the top eight horses/greyhounds in betting appearing in order from favourite to least favourite. Looking at the right-hand side menu, you will see in-play sports and upcoming sports matches which is great for any last-minute betting – or live betting options
If you turn your gaze to the left column, you’ll find the TopSport ‘Quick Links’ section, including shortcuts to Racing and Sport markets, promotions, and featured events.
TopSport App Review
The TopSport mobile app is available on iPhone and Android, making betting on go quick and easy. All of TopSport’s markets, functions and options are available through the app, so you’ll have no problems getting any bet you like on if you’re not near a desktop. It follows the lead taken by the desktop website: fast, functional, easy to use and no distractions. If that’s what you’re after, the app doesn’t disappoint.
