Sennachie Storms Into Maturity Finale

SENNACHIE has been installed favourite for Saturday night’s $140,000 Group 1 Maturity Classic after a devastating 29.72 heat win at The Meadows.

The brilliant Steve White-trained Sennachie has been installed favourite for Saturday night's $140,000 Group 1 Maturity Classic after a devastating 29.72 heat win over the 525-metre journey at The Meadows.

The son of Fernando Bale and Rhonda Rocks overcame an early bumping duel with Big Artie Banner before asserting his dominance, scoring by almost six lengths and recording Best of Night figures against the fastest young greyhounds in the country.

The victory will now give the fawn flyer a chance to record his second Group 1 victory in the space of a month after his incredible track record-breaking win in July 4's Brisbane Cup.

The TAB has marked Sennachie as a $3 favourite after the gun chaser drew box eight in the $100,000-to-the-winner final.

Sennachie is one of two chasers to make their way into the final for White, who watched on as Tauwitchere (29.99) became the first greyhound to qualify for this year's event after yet another all the way win.

The duo's main danger looks to be Jebrynah after his sensational 29.80 heat win, set up thanks to incredible splits of 4.95 and 17.61, as he qualified for the third Group final of his 29-start career, and first at Group 1 level. The son of Cosmic Rumble and Jebrynah Glory looks to have drawn well in box three, and is on the second line of betting at $3.30.

New South Wales' cult hero Feral Franky simply elevated his popularity after a brilliant last-to-first victory in heat four of the Maturity, recording his ninth straight victory when stopping the clock at 29.98.

Trained by Ray Smith, the son of Collision and Solar Pak will push his prizemoney well past the $400,000 mark if successful in Saturday's final, where he will exit box one.

Another notable heat victory was that of Get It Gizmo, who – at just his eighth start – beat the likes of Jaro Bale and Mister Harlewood when scoring in 29.91 on debut at The Meadows.

Next Saturday night will also see the running of the Group-listed The Fireball, where champion Tornado Tears will look to defend his title.

The Robert Britton-trained chaser had to pull out all the stops to defeat Dyna Chancer in the first of two heats, recording a 42.61 win – the 26th of his decorated career. The son of Fernando Bale and Tears Siam will start from box eight in next week's $25,000-to-the-winner final.

WATCH: Tornado Tear (box five) win his Fireball heat over Dyna Chancer (box seven).
