Feral Franky's Stud Stocks Continue To Surge

BREEDER Noel Mugavin will send group winner Janali to Feral Franky when she next comes on season, continuing the former star chaser's great start at stud.

VICTORIAN breeder Noel Mugavin will send royally bred group winning bitch Janali to Feral Franky when she next comes on season, joining an ever-growing group of Australia's leading breeders to utilise the Group 1 star at stud.

Janali (Barcia Bale-Born Ali) was a Group 3 winner on the track for Mugavin and trainer Robbie Britton but also a litter sister to Group 1 Bold Trease winner Barcali and multiple Group winner and Group 1 finalist Benali.

Benali is still the fastest son of Barcia Bale to win at Wentworth Park.

Mugavin decided on the Feral Franky mating to join the Wheeler family and Marty Hallinan, Barry Gibbons, Dennis Barnes, Geoff Scott-Smith, Charmaine Roberts and the dog's former trainer and now studmaster Ray Smith in using him.

The Wheeler family has mated six of their bitches to Feral Franky.

Their famous damline has always worked well when linked to Feral Franky's sire Collision.

Feral Franky (Collision-Solar Pak by Mogambo) has been at stud for the past year retiring after a wonderful race career during he started 44 times for 24 wins and 15 placings earning $482,000 in stakes. 

He won the G1 Vic Peters, G3 Flying Amy Classic G3 New Sensation, Richmond Riches, and ran a track record at Gunnedah.

He was second in the G1 Topgun, G1 Nat Derby, G1 Paws, G3 Speed Star, third in the G1 Maturity and G1 Gold Bullion and a finalist in the G2 Bulli Gold Plate. 

He is from a litter of stars which also includes Good Odds Harada (31 wins, $1.3 million, $1m Chase), Good Odds Buddy (18 wins, $85,000), Good Odds Meghan (12 wins, $43,000), Inversion (14 wins, $113,000) and Solar Sky (14 wins, $40,000).

Among Feral Franky's matings during his time at stud is Tiggerlong Dot for breeder Michael Finn. She is the dam of star Victorian Tiggerlong Tonk who runs on Thursday night in the G1 Hobart 1000.

Mugavin decided on Feral Franky for Janali's second litter, her first by My Bro Fabio, is rising nine months.

“They are magnificent looking pups and I decided to keep all of them,” said Noel.

“My damline has done so well with Fabio and Feral Franky's damsire is Mogambo a full brother to My Bro Fabio's dam Flamenco.

“I've got great confidence in the mating.”
