All Time Stakes Record On The Line In Gold Bullion

VICTORY in Friday's inaugural Gold Bullion at Albion Park will see Good Odds Harada assume top position as Australasia’s all-time highest stake earner.

VICTORY in Friday night's inaugural Group 1 Gold Bullion Final (520m) at Albion Park will see Good Odds Harada assume top position as Australasia's all-time highest stake earner.

And after a record breaking trial at Bathurst on Monday evening, the son of Collision is primed to give the race one almighty shake.

"It's something we want for sure … to be able to say you've got the world's highest ever prize money earner in your kennels," declared trainer Frank Hurst.

"The prize money on offer these days is almost unbelievable; there's races everywhere and for great money. Almost too many!"

Good Odds Harada heads into Friday night's Gold Bullion boasting prize money earnings of $1,235,585, perched third behind champion chasers Fanta Bale ($1,365,175) and Fernando Bale ($1,299,370).

If the Million Dollar Chaser hero secures Friday night's $150,000 winner's cheque, his stakes will soar to $1.385 million and with it top billing as our highest ever earner.

In last Thursday's heats, Good Odds Harada did it the hard way qualifying with a gritty box eight victory in 29.89, outside the 29.66 recorded by Fernando Blaster and 29.67 posted by his brother Feral Franky.

"I thought last week showed just how good he is," Hurst stated.

"He was never in the race but he still found a way to get up and win; that's what the real good ones do. He didn't look in it the whole way, even after, just when it mattered most."

With Appin currently down for trials, and an eight day turnaround between heats and final, Hurst made the decision to trial Good Odds Harada at Bathurst on Monday in preparation for Friday night's group 1 blockbuster.

"With the eight days between races I wanted to give him a good hit-out so Tracey and I jumped in the car and trialled him at Bathurst over the 450 after the last yesterday (Monday)," told Hurst.

"Before the Million Dollar Chase final he smashed the record running 25.22 and yesterday he went 25.29 so he's spot on for Friday night; I couldn't be happier with him."

Good Odds Harada has drawn box three for Friday night's showpiece event, the TAB installing the 23-time winner a $4.20 third favourite behind $2.50 joint elects Feral Franky (box two) and Sennachie (box five).

Lismore and Casino Cup winner Fernando Blaster is on the fourth line of betting at $6.50 for trainer Terry Jordan.

"All the experts up north say the speed is out wide so I'm happy enough with (box) three," Hurst added, declaring a healthy respect for his opposition.

"Feral Franky is a great dog I love him; I've never seen a dog smarter in a field, you saw that again last week. And if Sennachie is running 29.30 out in front than obviously none of us can beat him.

"But I wouldn't swap my dog for anything. He's a sensational traveler and is in excellent condition. Now we're just after a bit of luck.

"It'd be great to win another big race and for that to come with the all-time stakes record would make it even more memorable."
