Amplified To Punch Above Her Weight In Golden Sands

TRAINER Steve Shinners reckons Amplified does not know she is "only around 25 kilos" such is the dominance of the classy WA race bitch.

STEVE Shinners reckons Amplified does not know she is “only 25 kilos” such is the dominance of the classy race bitch.

Amplified headed from WA on Tuesday to run on Wednesday in the heats of the 600m Group 3 Golden Sands at Albion Park.

FIELDS AND FORM ALBION PARK WEDNESDAY

The royally bred daughter of Fernando Bale and Group 1 winning Elevated, she comes to Albion Park with the imposing record of 30 wins from 49 starts and has won her past five starts.

Among those wins have been the Listed Anniversary Cup, Paradise Street Trophy, Dale Cup. She has been second in the G3 Mandurah Cup, Listed Spring Gift, and a finalist in the G2 All Stars, G3 Young Star Classic.

Along the way she set a track record at Mandurah.

“She is a marvellous traveller so that will not be a worry at all,” said Steve whose wife Krystal trains the bitch.

“But, we would have liked to give her one more day in Queensland before her race.”

Steve is concerned with the draw in six but has already done his homework on the form of her rivals.

“I'm told there is not a great deal of pace in the race and if she can come out and get to the front, she will take some beating,” he said.

“She's won 30 races but never won out of the six.”

Shinners said the bitch is 25 kilos but doesn't know it.

“She will get into the catching pen and put it to 40 kilo dogs at times,” he said.

“It will not be a worry for her that she has not trialled around Albion Park. “We took her first-up to Northam early in her career and she flew.”

Shinners also brings Electrified (Aussie Infrared-Miss America) for Thursday night's heats of the Group 2 Qld Derby for which he has drawn perfectly in the two.

He recently trialled 29.79 around Albion Park then went back to WA where he won in 29.57 and was a certainty beaten behind Yahoo Serious on Saturday night.

“They have introduced the silent lure at Cannington and it takes dogs a bit of getting used to,” said Steve.

“He hit his head on the lids trying to anticipate the start on Saturday night.

“He pulled up fine after the run and at least he will get an extra day to recover from the flight to Queensland.”

Shinners has again done his homework on the Derby heat.

“I'm told the red can  come out fair but the three will like to shift off a litter,” he said.

“That will suit our bloke who also likes to run about three or four off.”

Shinners will stay in Queensland for the weeks if either dog gets into the final the following week.
