Aston Fastnet Newest Star Attraction At Stud

THE regally bred Aston Fastnet is now standing at Meticulous Lodge with the group winning star already well into his work as a budding sire star.

MERCURIAL Ray Borda had to pinch himself back in early 2021.

He had bred a litter by KC And All from Aston Miley, the dam a sister to his racetrack superstar Aston Dee Bee, he of the G1 Melbourne Cup victory, and a class act on the track herself.

Much was expected of the litter and it delivered.

ASTON FASTNET AT STUD

Yes, the standout became Aston Rupee the multiple G1 winner and record breaker.

But Borda also had Aston Fastnet in the litter and there is no doubting the 34kg powerhouse was just as fast. His name said it all.

It is history now that Aston Rupee became a household name. From 42 starts he won 23 and earned $606,000. Rupee ran a 28.79 Sandown track record, and 29.95 Angle Park track record and a 29.39 at The Meadows (TR 29.37). His G1 wins came in the Topgun and Temlee. But he is also the winner the G3 Speed Star twice, the G3 Sandown Shootout and a Match Race series in SA. He ran 2nd in the G3 Launching Pad and Pink Diamond Sprinter, 3rd in the Ballarat Derby, and was a finalist in the G1 Melbourne Cup, G1 Adelaide Cup and The Phoenix.

Aston Fastnet had much to live up to, but he made a grand fist of it in just 25 starts winning 11 and being placed five times for stakes of $76,000.

As youngsters, Aston Fastnet and Aston Rupee could not be split such was their incredible pace.

By the time Fastnet retired he had won the G3 Warragul St Leger and was a finalist in the G1 Maturity and G3 Speed Star.

His litter brother Aston Rupee knocked him out of contention in that Speed Star.

But, Aston Fastnet could run like the wind.

He ran a scorching 29.11 at Sandown (at just his sixth race start), 29.85 around The Meadows, 29.62 at Albion Park, 24.78 at Ballarat, 29.69 at Cranbourne and 25.35 at Warragul.

Fastnet and Rupee are not the only smart track performers from  their litter. It also includes Aston Flame (18 wins, $66,000), Aston Glow (8 wins, $23,000), Aston Oriental (7 wins, $26,000), Aston Reward (11 wins, $51,000) and Aston Rhone (6 wins, $28,000).

By US hall of famer KC And All (sire in Australia of champions Striker Light and Orson Allen and the stars Equalizer, Zippy Tesla, Often Imitated, Campini, Cropduster, Aston Kimetto, Bobby The Brute, Bernardo etc), his dam Aston Miley (3rd G2 Geelong Cup, finalist G1 Melbourne Cup, G2 Warragul Cup) is a litter sister to champion Aston Dee Bee (35 wins, $798,000, G1 Melbourne Cup, now leading sire).

Aston Miley, to Brett Lee, is also the mother of Aston Lee (finalist G3 Casino Cup, G3 Devonport Chase, Gardens 29.17), Aston Maeve (finalist G1 Nat Futurity), Aston Tatum (finalist G3 Casino Cup) etc.

To Fernando Bale, she is the dam of Aston Lira (finalist G3 Vic-bred Mdn), Aston Salma (10 wins, $36,000) etc.

Aston Fastnet has a pedigree to suit numerous broodbitch lines.

He is bred on the same KC And All/Desalle Bale (Barcia Bale) cross as champion Orson Allen.

The fact he has Barcia Bale as his damsire means he is a MUST for daughters of Fernando Bale.

Barcia Bale has done exceptionally well when linked to Allen Deed, Aussie Infrared, Zambora Brockie, Magic Sprite. Bitches by all those stud dogs will certainly match up with Aston Fastnet.

His close relation, Aston Dee Bee, is working spectacularly when he mates bitches with Bombastic Shiraz in their make-up.

This can be picked up numerous ways via stud dogs like Fabregas, Lochinvar Marlow, newcomers like Feral Franky, My Redeemer, Bit Chili, Nitro Burst, Zambora Brockie, Spring Gun … you get the picture.

He will be ideal for matings to bitches by any stud dog with a close-up cross of Where's Pedro.

These include Allen Deed, Destini Fireball, Dalgetty, Peter Rocket, Feral Franky, My Redeemer, My Bro Fabio etc.

There will also be a fabulous opportunity to bring in intense in-breeding by mating bitches with Knocka Norris in their pedigree. He is a brother to Fastnet's 3rd dam Elite Oriental. This mix is already proven.

Daughters of Out Of Range will be perfect to achieve this.

Fastnet was a high class race dog.

He goes to stud as a standalone … not just the littermate of Rupee.

He was that great on the racetrack.
