I’M Explosive led throughout to win Thursday night’s Dapto Middle Distance Championship (600m) but Queensland trainer Robert Ayres says her immediate future is “up in the air”.
The daughter of Barcia Bale-Explosive Madame scored by two and a quarter lengths over Ice Cream Story and Smart Fernando to take her record to 10 wins and $74,000.
“She deserved a win like that,” said Robert. “And all praise to Troy Robinson for looking after her so well in the lead-up to this race.
“It is unbelievable how everything came together. Obviously we always hope it will, but it doesn’t always happen. This time it did.”
Winners are grinners! 🐾 😁

Ayres, from the Glass House Mountains north of Brisbane, will now sit down and look at what is available for the bitch in the immediate future.
“I think 600 metres is her destiny,” he said. “Last night’s win was only her third start over the distance.
“I gave her one 600 metre race at Albion Park back in July and Kooringa Lucy had to run 34.81 to run her down. And she only got her in the last 40 metres.
“I’d like to stay at home with her in Queensland because she is still eligible for fifth grade over 600m at Albion Park.
“But, I will talk to the owners and we will look at all the programs and sort something out.”
