NOW Queensland-based breeder and trainer Brian Baker is getting excited, actually, very excited.

That's because Brian has a litter of eight youngsters by retired superstar Sennachie and Wheatacre about to hit the racetrack and he has the highest of expectations for them.

Baker has been Queensland-based for some years, he and his wife moving there from the Dubbo area where he was a race-caller and trainer.

Brian's success with greyhounds has been immense.

“Of the eight pups from the Sennachie x Wheatacre litter, six of them will be above average TAB class no doubt,” Baker said.

Wheatacre (Velocette-Clair Vision) was a classy race bitch winning 21 races and $55,000 for Baker and was a finalist in the Group 3 Gold Coast Cup.

Baker cannot believe the maturity of his litter of pups even though they are only at the pre-training stage.

“The bitches in particular are so switched on,” said Baker. “The litter's ability to learn and learn so quickly is amazing.

“They are a lot more mature then they should be and I'm really excited about what I'm seeing.”

Baker says the “switched on” nature of the litter is amazing.

“I'll be using him again, of course,” Baker said of Sennachie.

“I also very much like the litter of Feral Franky pups we have a little younger than the Sennachie pups.”

Sennachie is sponsoring the Queensland Derby a race he won in back in 2019 in breathtaking fashion.

The champion chaser was near unbeatable in Queensland at Albion Park, winning the 2020 Group 1 Gold Bullion at his final race start in 29.41, the time just outside his own 29.38 track record.
