TRAINER Karen Pitt and owner Amanda Tullio have been patient but also are well aware their immediate journey needs to be taken with caution still.

Karen and Amanda are trainer and owner of star sprinter Compliance which continues his racetrack comeback at Shepparton in the Tony McGrath Memorial (450m) on Shepparton Cup final night on Saturday.

The son of Black Magic Opal-Flowing, winner last year of the Group 2 Ballarat Cup and runner-up in the Silver Chief, has been recovering from a torn stopper tendon he suffered back in September last year.

He resumed at Warragul on Tuesday with a 22.74 win as the $1.60 favourite in a 400m 4th Grade.

“Amanda has been so patient with him for us,” said Karen.

“Des Fagan did the surgery on the tendon, and Barry Haywood has helped us through with Compliance's recovery.”

But Karen is not getting ahead of herself.

“It has taken a while to get him back on the track,” she said.

“We've done a lot of work with him.

“But, we are certainly not getting ahead of ourselves.

“With a bit of luck he can still win another feature race for us.

“But it is certainly one race at a time with him.”

Compliance has started 36 times for 17 wins and seven placings earning $167,000.

While his Ballarat Cup victory is his crowning glory and the second to Zippy Tesla in the Silver Chief after leading is also a highlight, he has always been hard to toss in feature races.

He was second in the Ballarat Derby and a finalist in the G2 Shepparton Cup and G2 Warrnambool Cup, as well as a multiple Sandown and The Meadows winner.
