CLASS shone through at Sale on Sunday evening in the final of the Spolly's Syndications Sale Sprint Championship (440m) with crack galloper Bernardo outlasting a gallant Big Flood in an epic conclusion to the $10,000 to-the-winner series.

Bernardo, runner-up to My Redeemer in the Group 1 Harrison-Dawson Final at Sandown Park in May, headed into Sunday's finale on the back of a 24.63 heat success, slower than the 24.46 posted by Seona Thompson's Big Flood, both chasers having their first starts since contesting the Group 2 Bendigo Cup Final won by WA star Vanderworp.

Lining up in the final as clear-cut equal favourites, the race soon became a two-dog war, with the Bill McMahon-trained Bernardo holding a length advantage over Big Flood on the line, stopping the clock in 24.69 to extend his career record to 12 wins from the 22 outings.

The victory continued the great run of success being enjoyed by the Kc And All x Surfonic litter, with Degani a smart Sandown Park winner last Thursday evening in 29.64, the ninth win of his career from just the 24 starts.

Dam Surfonic – a daughter of generational producer Surf Queen – continues to churn out terrific results for connections, her progeny now responsible for 135 race wins and almost $500k in stake earnings.
