Berry's Beast Of A Litter Showing Huge Potential

THE thunderous start at stud being enjoyed by Beast Unleashed is showing no signs of slowing down after picking up a flurry of winners this week.

THE thunderous start at stud being enjoyed by Beast Unleashed is showing no signs of slowing down after picking up a flurry of winners in the past seven days.

It's been only seven weeks since the former Launching Pad winner's progeny have started to hit the track but what a foray into stud circles it's been.

His offspring have faced the starter on 64 occasions for 21 wins and eight placings for a win strike-rate of 32 per cent and place strike-rate of 52 percent.

Included in his early progeny is the highly promising Zigzag Cabang which goes into a Horsham 5th Grade (410m) on Tuesday with breeder, owner and trainer Greg Berry confident he is a dog of huge potential.

And Berry is just as confident of the entire litter, by Beast Unleashed and Stars And Lights, proving their worth.

“I raced a dog called Lance Link and he won 32 races for me,” Berry said.

“There are a few in this litter that will turn out much better than him.”

Lance Link (Spring Gun-Pawsative) is a litter brother to Stars And Lights the dam of Berry's exciting Beast Unleashed litter.

Lance Link won 32 races and earned $69,000 during his career.

“These pups are only 20 months old and a few of them are running better times than Lance Link did during his career,” Berry added.

“Zigzag Cabang is a very fast young dog and very mature already. The 21.51 he ran to win at Shepparton last week was great. I think he can go close to the low 23s at Horsham and might even break it.”

But Berry believes litter brother Money Owes, a winner at Shepparton, Horsham and Healesville in five starts, is outstanding.

“He can really run,” Berry added. “He will be the one to get 500 metres and will probably even get 600 metres as he gets older.

“But why wouldn't they be able to run. They are from a good chase line and by a great chasing well-bred dog.”

The litter carries a strong 3×3 of full relations Knocka Norris and Dragon Angel (third dam of Zigzag Cabang.

“I usually break in my own dogs and when I put them around Shepparton as pups a few of them were running 18.80 first look so I knew I had something,” he said.

“I didn't want to start them so early, but they were ready to go.

“A couple of the bitches are still immature but they show ability as well and it will come to them.”

Greg likes the litter so much he is contemplating putting Atlantic Jewel, a litter sister to Stars And Lights, to Beast Unleashed as well.

Standing at Sires On Ice for $1650, Beast Unleashed is quickly becoming one of the more value sires on the market.

His early results speak for themselves.
