STAR galloper Zipping Kyrgios has reeled off two career best trials in preparation for his return to racing in Saturday night’s heats of The Brother Fox (516m) at Dubbo.
He has not raced since falling at the first turn in the Group 3 The Ambrosoli, the Golden Easter Egg Consolation, at Wentworth Park early in April.
He injured a wrist which forced the son of Aussie Infrared-Zipping Lilly on the sidelines for four weeks.
Bred and raced by the Hallinan family, Zipping Kyrgios has won 27 of his 59 starts for $402,000 with wins in the Black Top, Gosford Cup, Bob Payne, The Collerson and this year’s Dubbo Country Classic final for trainer John Finn.
Minnie Finn said Friday that in two trials since the dog’s return to training he had trialled better than ever before.
“We gave him a 520 metre at Gosford Wednesday of last week and he went the best he’s gone,” she said.

“Then on Tuesday we took him to Wentworth Park for a post to post and he was clocked at 24.04, the best he has ever gone there.
“And he slipped from just near the mat of the 520 metre boxes.
“Better than ever,” said Minnie.
The only downside to Zipping Kyrgios’ return to racing is the fact he has drawn the eight in the heat of The Brother Fox on Saturday night, a box draw that has always been against him during his career.
“He had the eight in The Brother Fox (Dubbo Cup) final last year when he finished third to Jungle Deuce,” said Minnie.
“Three of them were going to the lead at the first turn last year but Bonnie Keeping got him which allowed Jungle Deuce to dash clear.
“Bonnie Keeping has drawn inside him in the seven in Saturday night’s heat.
“He’s just got to come out on Saturday night.”
Minnie rates rails runner Fantastic Raven the hardest to beat from her favourable draw and the great form she has been in of late including a third to She’s A Pearl in the Group 1 Easter Egg.
