“Best I've Trained”: Victa Haydn Retired

GALLANT South Australian galloper Victa Haydn has been retired after sustaining a hock injury at Angle Park last Thursday evening.

GALLANT South Australian galloper Victa Haydn has been retired after sustaining a hock injury at Angle Park last Thursday night.

And, his trainer Tony Rasmussen has declared him the best greyhound he has trained.

“Honcho Monelli was great to us, but this dog has won over all distances and been such an honest galloper,” he said today.

Victa Haydn (Fernando Bale-Victa Victoria) raced 67 times for 23 wins and 31 placings earning $144,000.

“I rang his breeder and owner Ron Schadow and discussed his future,” said Tony.

“We agreed that Victa Haydn would become the house pet on the lounge for Ron and his wife Joan, and his litter brother Victa Grosso will become the house pet on the lounge for me.”

Victa Grosso, still racing, has started 72 times for 30 wins and 28 placings earning $140,000.

They come from a litter of 12 and all have been winners, totalling 161 wins and $543,000.

Victa Haydn won the Bay Road Queen, Howard Ashton, Gawler Produce, SA Sprint, Kings v Queens and was a multiple feature race placegetter.

“He won over all distances and was such an honest dog,” said Tony.
