SUNDAY’S Capalaba Cup meeting is in grave doubt of being postponed after a deluge overnight and more rain today flooded the racetrack.

Wednesday’s Capalaba race meeting has already been abandoned as was the twilight Ipswich card on Tuesday.

Club spokesperson Erin Cameron said that a whopping 100mm of rain overnight and a further 30mm this morning forced Wednesday’s race meeting to be abandoned.

“Water covered the track surface,” she said.

“And this will make the finals of the Capalaba Cup and Bob Vernon Maiden set be run on Sunday in doubt.

“The club needs at least a week to prepare the track after flooding like this.

“It will not be race ready for Sunday.”

She said an official announcement would be made later in the week by stewards.

“At the moment, it looks like we could postpone the Cup and Vernon Maiden to the following week, but that has to be made official,” she said.
