MDC Champ Blue Kermaro Begins Stud Journey

AS the field went to the boxes for the Million Dollar Chase version 2024, Blue Kermaro was a young dog on the up.

But, despite a flying 29.37 semi-final win at Wentworth Park, he was expected to be outshone by such luminaries of the sport as Explicit, Good Odds Cobber, Sunset Frazier, the boom WA star Bezzecchi, the flying Inconspicious, and the highly promising Zipping Megatron and the ever consistent Both Bowers Ace.

It saw Blue Kermaro head to the boxes at $19.

He raced like a superstar … the superstar he had become and would later prove as the winner of the Group 1 Paul Wheeler Simply The Best, also at Wentworth Park.

BLUE KERMARO AT STUD

Blue Kermaro, for owner Ben Peart and trainer Josh Formosa, his 29.41 Million Dollar Chase victory brought them into a realm of reality they may never had contemplated.

Blue Kermaro downed Zipping Megatron and Sunset Frazier.

For some reason, Million Dollar Chase winners must prove themselves apart from that victory.

Blue Kermaro came back to down the class acts Gets Late Early and Zipping Chaplin and future G1 National Derby winner Paw Oswald to land the Wheeler.

Tragedy struck the dog when he was storming away in a Match Race final of the G2 Golden Ticket at Albion Park, but it gives broodbitch owners the chance to use him at stud.

He retires after 33 starts for 11 wins and 12 placings, earnings of $1.18 million and with the world at his feet at stud.

He came from a litter that produced seven runners and seven winners and also included the ill-fated Off The Picture (9 wins, $42,000) and the classy One More Beer (7 wins, $47,000).

Off The Picture was going to be "anything" but tragically died after finishing second in the Summer Six Hundy and The Clarence. He had star stayer written all over him.
Sire Barcia Bale of course is as well known in greyhound circles the world wide as bread and butter.

His sons at stud proving themselves are Dyna Double One, Shima Shine, Aston Dee Bee, Christo Bale, Hooked On Scotch, Beast Unleashed, Raw Ability, Flying Ricciardo, Zack Monelli, Benali etc etc.

Blue Kermaro's dam is the Fernando Bale-Prancing Tiger bitch Kermaro winner of 12 races, from a litter of nine all of them winners and including Fernando Alonso (16 wins, $36,000, 3^rd Dubbo Future Stars), Blue Tiger (13 wins, $50,000, Launching Pad Consolation), Prancing Diva (12 wins, $36,000, finalist Bathurst Cup) etc.

Second dam, Prancing Tiger (6 wins, Gosford, Wentworth Park, The Gardens) is also the dam of Zambora Tiger (12 wins, $46,000, finalist G3 Taree Cup). She came from a litter of 10, nine of them winners.

It has always been an interesting topic when stud dogs dominate and then combine within pedigrees, that some will claim "the end of the world" in regards to what way the world of breeding can head to.

Blue Kermaro is by Barcia Bale from a daughter of Fernando Bale. It is a cross proving itself every single day.

BUT, Blue Kermaro has so many options for broodbitch owners to utilise him at stud.

The fact his grandmother has worked with Zambora Brockie (i.e. Zambora Tiger), means his daughters are a must for Blue Kermaro. Brockie has worked exceptionally well with both Barcia Bale and Fernando Bale.

That Qld superstar Magistrate is by Fernando bale from a daughter of Zambora Brockie and his granddam is by Barcia Bale.

Bernardo bitches are a "super" cross for Blue Kermaro.

Bernardo has worked to G1 level with both Barcia Bale and Fernando Bale.

The same can be said for daughters of Aussie Infrared who has also worked continuously with Barcia Bale and Fernando Bale to produce Group stars.

The same can be said for Feral Franky and he and his litter brother Good Odds Harada are great for Blue Kermaro. The double and balance of Collision such a mating will introduce is superb and proven.

Daughters of My Bro Fabio will be fine. They too work with both Barcia Bale and Fernando Bale, and legend Wow She's Fast is by My Bro Fabio from a daughter of Barcia Bale.

Bitches with Allen Deed, a proven link again with both Barcia and Fernando, can be tested.

Tommy Shelby bitches too can be utilised with Blue Kermaro. It will duplicate and balance Fernando Bale a cross that will be proven as time goes on in our industry.

Bitches with El Grand Senor too are invaluable for Blue Kermaro. That's because his dam Elgrando Gold is bred identically to Fernando Bale's dam Chloe Allen and they have linked in many quality greyhounds.

Daughters of Shima Shine could also be a fabulous potential mate for Blue Kermaro. Yes, it will duplicate and balance Barcia Bale 3×2 but this too is a highly proven cross.

Others to suit him could be Zack Monelli and Sunset Spitfire, each of them bringing in highly proven crosses.

Sunset Spitfire has Fabregas up close and he and Fernando Bale have one of the very strongest "nicks" in greyhound racing.
