Bonus For Breeders Ahead Of Harada's MDC Defence

In the next fortnight, Good Odds Harada will begin his TAB Million Dollar Chase defence when Frank Hurst decides on either the Bulli or Richmond qualifiers with his 28-time winner.

And to celebrate the son of Collision's attempt at defending his MDC crown, Frank and Tracey Hurst will be offering slightly discounted straws between now and Million Dollar Chase night.

"We'll pick up the GST part so straws for the next six weeks will be $1800," Frank Hurst said.

"He's been getting bitches here and there and we've been selling some straws and the reports have been all big litters so far. And real nice healthy pups.

"For us, that's the most important thing that the people using him are happy."

GOOD ODDS HARADA'S STUD PROFILE

This week marks exactly a year since Good Odds Harada made an undefeated run to secure the world's richest greyhound prize at Wentworth Park.

His insane 29.34 final victory at the Glebe circuit was preceded by electrifying 29.34 and 29.40 Bathurst runs to begin his MDC quest in 2019.

"He might be a year older but he's trialling as good as ever – if anything better than last year," Hurst said.

"The last time he drew inside box four was in the Temlee at The Meadows in February – his last 12 starts have been from four or wider and in top class races that makes the difference.

"He's desperate for an inside box to get a bit of that confidence back. But he's going as good as he ever has."

Good Odds Harada heads into the Million Dollar Chase just $75,000 shy of Fanta Bale's all-time prize money record of $1.365 million.

And while Hurst concedes it would be a feather in his cap, it's not something really on the radar.

"He's got nothing else to prove; whatever he does from here is a bonus," Hurst added.

"Same as him being at stud – I've got no doubt he'll be a success but we won't force him on people.

"His fertility is great and ticks all the boxes so he's there ready to go for this breeding season."
