Boom Brothers Confirmed For Brisbane Cup

DAVID Burnett has confirmed Simon Told Helen and Who Told Stevie will take their place in this Thursday night's Group 1 Brisbane Cup heats.

TRAINER David Burnett has confirmed megastar sprinter Simon Told Helen will fly north this week for Thursday night's heats of the Group 1 Sky Racing Brisbane Cup (520m).

And in a further boost to the flagship Albion Park series, his hugely talented brother Who Told Stevie will join him.

"We've got one of the flights booked and will organise the other one tomorrow," said Burnett on Sunday.

"(Who Told) Stevie hasn't flown before which is a slight concern. They'll fly in on Thursday morning and then home either late Thursday night or early Friday morning. And if everything goes to plan it will be the same for the final."

The superstar siblings rubber-stamped their Brisbane Cup assault at Sandown Park last Thursday when Simon Told Helen recorded a sensational career best time of 29.11 to defeat Who Told Stevie by 2 ½ lengths.

And while Simon Told Helen and Who Told Stevie will be front and centre for Thursday night's showpiece group 1 heats at Albion Park, Burnett, who won the Brisbane Cup in 2013 with Kiss Me Ketut, is resigned to the fact he'll be watching from home.

"It's disappointing but that's the way it is; nothing can be done about it," Burnett said.

For the past fortnight, Burnett's kennel-hand Martina Kirillidis has been self-isolating in Queensland in the event that the Queensland borders had not reopened.

“We sent Martina to Queensland in case it played out this way … and it has,” Burnett explained.

“The dogs are in great hands with Martina. When Simon Told Helen won the Derby at Albion Park last year he flew in and flew out like we'll do this time.”

Simon Told Helen will be eyeing a fourth group 1 success in the Brisbane Cup before the son of Barcia Bale turns his attention to next month's Group 1 Maturity Classic at The Meadows.

“When you consider he was scratched from the National Derby and missed the Golden Easter Egg and Australian Cup it's quite remarkable what he's achieved so quickly,” Burnett added.

And in an ominous sign for his rivals, last Thursday's Sandown Park victory suggests he's only getting better.
