Brasch: Xerri Can Shake Up Stud Scene

HOW often do we hear the saying "what might have been", that's certainly the case with exciting stud prospect, MDC runner-up Xerri.

HOW often do we hear the saying “what might have been”.

When discussing that sensational sprinter Xerri (Fernando Bale-Miss All Class by Where's Pedro), that is as apt a term as possible.

Xerri raced just 21 times for seven wins, six seconds and earned $129,000.

But Xerri is all about “what might have been”.

XERRI ALL CLASS IN SIZZLING GARDENS TRIAL

He proved his undoubted class when chasing home Handsome Prince when second in the Million Dollar Chase back in 2020.

He was just two years and three months old when his racetrack career was finished.

But, not before he had shown his ability with a 29.62 debut win at Wentworth Park and earned a reputation … and what a reputation.

Picture perfect … Xerri

The value of what Xerri promised can be gauged by what his littermates did on the track.

There is no doubting he had as much ability. He proved that when second in the Million Dollar Chase.

Xerri's littermates include track stars Wow and Ad Astra, Venom Cartel and Whitfield. All seven in the litter were winners.

Wow won 31 races and earned $392,000 winning the G1 Temlee, G2 Gosford Gold Cup, G3 Goulburn Cup, the Listed Goulburn Cup, was 2nd in the G1 Golden Easter Egg and G1 Paws Of Thunder, 3rd in the G2 Gosford Cup, and ran track records at Gosford, Nowra and Goulburn (twice) and has won at Wentworth Park in 29.38, and at The Meadows in 29.78.

XERRI AT STUD

Wow has already been well received at stud.

Also in the litter is Ad Astra (21 wins, $66,000, 2nd G2 Bulli Gold Cup, Goulburn Cup L), Venom Cartel (15 wins, $39,000), Whitfield (9 wins, $26,000) etc.

Everyone in greyhound racing knows Xerri's fire Fernando Bale, the amazing sprinter who is now the sire of the winners of $125 million.

It doesn't get much better than that.

AND, his sons are already a success at stud as well.

Their dam, Miss All Class (Where's Pedro-She's So Pretty) has an incredibly in-bred pedigree boasting four crosses of the famous (VERY famous) Osti damline.

Miss All Class is, in fact, bred on a reverse cross to Barcia Bale.

Barcia Bale is a son of Go Wild Teddy and out of a daughter of Hallucinate. Miss All Class is by Hallucinate's litter brother Where's Pedro and from a daughter of Go Wild Teddy.

Fernando Bale/Miss All Class is simply put an extension of the hugely successful; Fernando Bale/Barcia Bale “nick”.

Now at stud … Xerri

On the track Miss All Class won six races at Bulli, Wentworth Park and Gosford.

Xerri's pedigree brings in line breeding to Walkabout Sid, Light Of Fire and Head Honcho. He is the perfect example of an intensely in-bred dam being bred to a high class sire and producing the goods.

Now that Xerri is at stud, broodbitch owners will be searching crosses to him that will help in their search for racetrack success.

These could come in many avenues.

Xerri is ideally suited for bitches by Barcia Bale, Collision, Worm Burner, those with Pure Octane in their make-up and also with Primo Uno. Outcross bitches should suit him greatly.

Being a son of Fernando Bale, he also is ideally placed for matings with daughters of Zambora Brockie. The Fernando Bale/Zambora Brockie cross is found in superstars Amron Boy and Plaintiff.

Having Where's Pedro as his damsire also means Xerri is suited to matings with bitches that bring in Hallucinate and their half brother Pure Octane.

The Where's Pedro/Hallucinate cross is proven to G1 level.

Daughters of Barcia Bale, of course, will suit perfectly.

And so will daughters of his son Aston Dee Bee.

Another optimum cross will be with daughters of star sire Aussie Infrared. He has worked so very well when he mates bitches with the Osti Lee damline … his own direct damline.

This cross will be saturated in any Xerri mating to a daughter of Aussie Infrared. And, it must be remembered that Fernando Bale was mated to Aussie's dam Ebby Miss to produce Group sprint star Ebby Jet Power.

LIGHTNING TRIAL HAS XERRI ALL SET FOR CUP TILT

Xerri has no Bombastic Shiraz or Collision in his pedigree and this too will be a plus for him.

Xerri has only his direct sireline through Kelsos Fusileer as an outcross in his pedigree.

He will almost certainly be suited to mating bitches that carry an import somewhere in their pedigree. A bitch by Barcia Bale with an outcross influence in her direct damline will be ideal.

Xerri was on the verge of becoming a superstar on the racetrack.

His retirement to stud gives broodbitch owners their chance to turn him into a high class stud dog.
