Bruce Mick Glenn Sends Donaldson Out A Winner

BRUCE Mick Glenn has won an emotion-fueled second event at Gosford tonight, the last greyhound in the name of the late Troy Donaldson.

BRUCE Mick Glenn has won an emotion-fueled second event at Gosford tonight.

The son of Aston Dee Bee was the last runner to go around in the name of the late Troy Donaldson who sadly passed away on Sunday at just 38 years of age.

His tragic death has left the greyhound industry grief stricken, struggling to come to terms with the sudden passing.

With family and friends trackside at Gosford tonight, in a fitting tribute, the NSW GBOTA organised Troy's 10-year-old son Jett to lead the field to the boxes in memory of his father.

Those that know Jett will be fully aware the passion he exudes for greyhound racing, his knowledge of the sport for a 10-year-old nothing short of remarkable.

A throng of participants made their way to Gosford tonight in the hope of watching Bruce Mick Glenn send off Troy in the best possible style.

And that he did, scoring comfortably in all the way fashion over the 388 metres, ensuring that there wasn't a dry eye left in the house.

It was only back in January that Donaldson reached the heights of greyhound racing when guiding Oh Mickey to victory in the Group 1 National Derby at Wentworth Park.

The last 12 months had been a breakout year for the Wyee conditioner, winning 70 of the 198 races his kennel contested at a strike-rate that had him firmly entrenched among the state's leading trainers.

A number of fundraising initiatives are already underway to support Troy's wife Chrystal and children Jett and Scarlet during this unthinkable time.

It's only fitting that Troy's last runner will go down into the history books a winner, and at his home track Gosford, only a hop, skip and a jump from the family's Wyee home.

As one trainer said in the aftermath of tonight's win: “even in heaven he's training winners!”
