Burnett Plays Safe Hand With Easter Egg Champ

KEN Burnett received plenty of praise for not risking sensational Golden Easter Egg winner Power And Glory on a soaked Wentworth Park on Saturday night.
But, the most important of the calls he received was from the superstar's owner, Jeff Eastburn, from his hospital bed.
Eastburn underwent a six-hour operation just days before his dog's Group 1 Easter Egg victory and he is still in hospital weeks later.
Power And Glory was a raging hot favourite for Saturday night's heat of the G3 Bob Payne Sprint at Wentworth Park.
"The meeting was fine right up to race six," Burnett said.
"But, then it started absolutely pouring.
"The stewards gave us permission to scratch if we wanted and I did not want to risk him, so out he came."

Power And Glory (Hooked On Scotch-Kwong Magic) is now Victoria bound but just for a trial around The Meadows.
"I want to give him a look at The Meadows for the future," he added.
"Then I will sort out a Brisbane campaign.
"I'm not sure if it will be at Albion Park or The Q, but I will find out before we go. A race start over 457 metres at The Q would suit him."
Ken put Power And Glory around Wentworth Park last Tuesday in a post-to-post trial and he reeled off a remarkable 23.51.
"There are a few things I can do with him in the not too distant future, but The Meadows and Brisbane look most likely," Burnett added.
"When Jeff rang Sunday morning and thanked me for not running the dog on such a wet track last night, it was a vote of confidence."
Power And Glory is the winner of 15 of his 28 starts and his earnings are now $386,000.
