Busy Week Ahead For Beef Week Cup Winner

CASINO'S sensational Beef Week Cup winner Louis Rumble has a busy week coming up beginning with Sunday's Straight Of Origin at Capalaba.

CASINO'S Beef Week Cup winner Louis Rumble has a busy week coming up.

The son of Fernando Bale and Joyce Rumble thrashed a fine field when winning Thursday's Beef Week Cup (484m) at Casino as the $2.50 favourite scoring by 7 ½ lengths over Legendary Lad with 2 ¼ lengths to Phantom Bonnie in third.

It was his 12th win in 25 starts and brought his stakes tally to $46,000.

Breeder, owner and trainer Steve Kavanagh was bubbling after the victory and mapped out the dog's immediate future.

“He'll back up on Sunday in the Straight Of Origin final at Capalaba, then follow that up with a start in the heats of the Flying Amy Classic at Albion Park on Thursday night,” said Kavanagh.

Kavanagh was excited about Louis Rumble's Casino win.

“He went very, very good and has pulled up well,” he said.

“The race on Sunday at Capalaba fits in nicely with his training. If he wasn't racing, he'd have to gallop on Sunday anyway.”

Kavanagh said he had planned a trial for Louis Rumble at Capalaba but decided to start in the heats of the Straight Of Origin instead and the $2500 winner's cheque was “a nice bonus”.

Of his chances in the Origin final on Sunday he is under no illusions saying the Queenslanders will have a huge advantage.

“They have their breakfast there,” Kavanagh joked of the star Capalaba performers from Queensland who have fabulous career stats on the track.

Louis Rumble's dam, Joyce Rumble, has a Fabregas litter now being prepared for racing and the bitch has just been mated to Pindari Express.

“The Fabregas litter are, naturally, much bigger than the Fernandos,” said Steve.

“And they are showing plenty of ability. They've been to Capalaba, Lismore, Casino and I'm waiting for Grafton to start trialling and they will go there as well.

“They've all broken in good.”
