Eleven Pups For Champion Brood's Last Hurrah

CHAMPION group 1 winning producing broodbitch Solar Pak has whelped her final litter .... 11 pups to superstar US sire Kinloch Brae.

CHAMPION broodbitch Solar Pak has whelped her final litter of pups.

Three weeks ago, she produced four dogs and seven bitches to champion US sire Kinloch Brae with breeder Barry Ward declaring today three of the dogs and five of the bitches will be for sale.

Solar Pak (Mogambo-Tifi by Bombastic Shiraz) has etched her name into breeding fame through her deeds at stud.

All 20 of her named progeny in litters to Collision, Fernando Bale and Barcia Bale have been winners.

They have won 260 races and $2.5 million in stakes led by the heroic exploits of household names Feral Franky and Good Odds Harada.

They run at a 27.1 percent winning strike-rate, truly remarkable given the depth of race they contest.

Solar Pak is the dam of superstars Good Odds Harada (28 wins, $1.29 million), Feral Franky (24 wins, $482,000), Little Digger (29 wins, $166,000), Inversion (13 wins, $109,000), Good Odds Buddy (18 wins, $85,000) etc.

Good Odds Harada won the Million Dollar Chase and Feral Franky was a multiple group winner, with both forging a career at stud given their impeccable breeding lines and outstanding race performances.

“I went up to Sheree Turner's property to see them and they look magnificent,” said Barry.

“She does a fabulous job whelping pups.”

Solar Pak will now retire to the Ward household, live on the lounge and “watch TV” said Barry.

“She's done her job for us,” he said.

Barry said the choice of Kinloch Brae as her last mate was done with the future in mind.

“We want to get a nice bitch to be able to down the track come back into all the same lines that have worked with Solar Pak,” he said.

Barry said he already has a large list of potential buyers wanting to snap up a Solar Pak pup.

And given the deeds of her offspring, that's hardly a surprise.
