Clash Of The Titans In Qld Straight Track Decider

CAPALABA veterans Bogie Fury and Magical Trav, with 47 wins up the straight track between them, will eyeball each other in next week's Straight Track Championship Final for the right to head to Richmond for the $25,000 National decider.

Bogie Fury (Aston Dee Bee-Bogie Lilly) was dominant in his heat win on Sunday in 19.70 scoring by two lengths over Ninetymile King and Horchata.

It was his 28th win in 49 starts and his 22nd win at Capalaba.

Magical Trav (Fernando Bale-Cyndie's Magic) scored by a half-length over Selwood Hayze and Milligan in 19.91 for his 27th win in 55 starts, but his 25th at Capalaba.

Only a week ago, Bogie Fury had downed Ferocity and Magical Trav in a Best 8 in 19.56.

Ryan Ayre trains Bogie Fury for Brisbane Club chairman Les Bein and he marveled at the chase of Bogie Fury.

“He is just a good chaser, no a great chaser,” said Ryan of Bogie Fury.

“I've had a few little injury worries lately including a groin problem I was trying to fix while still racing him.

“But a few weeks off before the Straight Of Origin did him the world of good.”

Ayre and Bein have been a Group combination in the past sharing in victory with Bogie King in the National Derby and Qld Derby some years ago.

Of the National final, to be staged at Richmond, Ryan will meet that challenge when the time comes depending on next week's Queensland final.

“He is such a good chaser, there is no doubt he would handle the silent lure coming up along the rail,” he said.

“But with Mr America the home town champ, everyone might be running for second anyway.

“And, I've never tripped Bogie Fury away before.”

Ryan said wide draws were his specialty.

“He has won 10 from 10 at Capalaba from box eight and 17 of 19 from either seven or eight,” he said.
