Confidence Key with Deverell's Bracelet Hopeful

BUTCH Deverell says confidence is key with talented bitch Rachael ahead of Monday night's Steve King Ladies Bracelet Final at Launceston on Monday night.

TRAINER Butch Deverell says confidence is key with his talented bitch Rachael which pulled out all stops to win her heat of the Steve King Ladies Bracelet (515m) at Launceston on Monday night.

Just 1/100th of a second separated the heat winning times with Rachael recording 30.12 while Hooked On Brenda Scored in 30.11.

Adding further merit to Rachael's heat win was that she narrowly defeated star Tassie bitch Amy Cora at monster odds of $26.

The win was Rachael's seventh career win from 30 starts, the daughter of Barcia Bale and Flying Roswell racing in fantastic fashion for Deverell.

"She (Rachael) is a totally different dog when she can lead, box draws haven't helped her along the way," Deverell said.

"Her confidence was down there for a while but now that's turned right around which shows in her form."

The deeds of Rachael stem from dam Flying Roswell which was purchased by breeder Karlene Cuthbertson from the US.

The talented litter also includes Inner Circle (5 wins) and She's Cuban (4 wins) as flying the flag for the American-bred dam.

In the second heat on Monday night, Hooked On Brenda made it three wins from just four starts at the Launceston 515m with another stylish victory.

Trained by Ted Medhurst, Hooked On Brenda bounded straight to the lead to defeat Lady Danger by a length in 30.11.

As is the case with feature finals, the box draw will play a strong hand, with Rachael to exit box five for the decider.

"It will be a leader's race, Rachael is capable if she begins," said Butch.

"You have to be in it to win it and in her current form I couldn't be happier with her."
