Cooke The ‘Master' of Grafton Track Records

GROUP 1 winning trainer Robert Cooke and the hugely successful Cashpot damline are taking a stranglehold on the Grafton track records list.

ROBERT Cooke and the Cashpot damline are taking a stranglehold on Grafton track records.

On Sunday, Cash Master (Aston Dee Bee-Cashpot) streeted a 1-3 Win final over 350m by almost seven lengths to set the track record at 19.64.

That adds to the 450m track record held by Cash View (Raw Ability-Cashpot) at 25.01 set in September last year.

Cooke bred and races Cash Master who started a $1.50 favourite for the final to take his record to six starts for three wins and three placings.

“The polish was right on him on Sunday night,” said Cooke.

“It was no surprise to me that he broke the record.”

The record had been shared by Orson Laurie and Integrity Mate at 19.65.

Cooke said he thought Cash Master may have gone close to breaking the record the week before.

He is in two minds about the dog's immediate future.

“There are 450m heats coming up next week and he will go in those,” he said.

“I have no doubt he will get 500 metres, but it will be a gradual process getting him up to that.”

Cashpot is a litter sister to Cooke's G1 National Futurity winner Cash In Motion.

She has a litter by Flying Ricciardo about to go to education and another by Beast Unleashed just three months old.
