Charlie Ready To Dance In Young Guns Decider

JOHN Dart is confident Cha Cha Charlie can be in the thick of things for Thursday night's rich Young Guns Final (520m) at Albion Park.

HIGHLY promising youngster Cha Cha Charlie is giving away valuable race experience in his quest for the Young Guns final (520m) at Albion Park on Thursday night.

But the John and Glenda Dart kennel is still confident the son of Fernando Bale and Lucky Cha Cha will go close to winning the rich final.

Cha Cha Charlie ran 30.17 to win his heat last week but had run a slick 29.87 at his previous start.

“He is a very classy young dog,” said John Dart. “But his lack of experience against the very good field he will meet on Thursday night will be tough.

“And, he is a much better dog off an inside box draw.”

Cha Cha Charlie was bred and is owned by Maryborough-based veteran dog man Noel Murdoch.

“I convinced Noel to put Lucky Cha Cha to Fernando Bale and Noel said he would send a couple of the pups to our kennel,” said John.

“This dog is one of those. He had already been educated and raced.”

Cha Cha Charlie has started seven times for four wins and two seconds.

“He has a ton of ability and is a beautiful natured dog,” said Dart.

But the lack of experience he has coming into the Young Guns final is obvious when stacked up against the Ray and Mary Burman littermates Master Douglas, Dynamite Lucy and Big Boy Bruce (Paw Licking-Bizarre Barbie).

“Big Boy Bruce has already won a 520 metre Free For All,” said Dart.

He also gives Steve Scott-trainer Farmor Fearsome a huge chance of winning the Young Guns.

“Going great, nicely boxed and has plenty of pace,” said Dart of Farmor Fearsome (Magic Sprite-Farmor Tee Cee).

Dart believes Cha Cha Charlie will get 600m with age and experience. “But the 710 metres might be a test,” he said.
