Draft Stars! Countdown On To Sunday's Draft

SANDOWN attracted a massive response to their inaugural Draft in '18 and can expect the same when the '19 draft goes live on November 17.

THE Sandown GRC attracted a massive response to their inaugural National Greyhound Draft in 2018 and can rightfully expect the same when the 2019 draft goes live this Sunday, November 17.

The very first runners from the 2018 Draft are starting to win and much is expected again from a quality line-up of inductees put together by the Sandown club's George Farrugia this year.

A quick run-down shows class, class and even more class of amazing pedigree matches, proven dams and high class race bitches from around the country and even from the USA.

They are:

Barcia Bale x Rhonda Rocks

By the champion sire and from a broodbitch already a proven G1 producer.
Rhonda Rocks is the Kinloch Brae-Punk Rock Lass dam of superstar Sennachie (G1 Maturity, G1 Bris Cup, Alb Pk TR). His fabulous littermates make this Barcia Bale pup something to chase after.

Mepunga Blazer x Shima Song

By the former Albion Park TR holder and G1 Maturity winner, dam Shima Song (Dyna Tron x Shumaguni) won 28 races and $288,000 and included multiple Group victories and Group 1 placings. But, she is already the dam of budding superstar Shima Shine (Ballarat TR, 2nd Million Dollar Chase, 9 wins from 12 starts, $135,000).

Fernando Bale x Time No Money

By the champ, from a bitch that won five races at Richmond, Nowra, Ballarat and Goulburn but she brings in the famed Spanish Dance female family and the same Fernando Bale/Knocka Norris cross as champions Poke The Bear and Out Of Range. Second dam Time And Money was a G1 Easter Egg finalist.

Fernando Bale x Flash Riot

The dam might have won only three (all at Cranbourne) of her 16 starts but she came from that wonderful Barcia Bale-Raya Riot litter that also included Headline (16 wins, $52,000) and Fuelish (19 wins, $63,000). AND, with her only litter to race, Flash Riot is already the dam of Start A Riot (G1 Peter Mosman winner, 14 wins, $132,000) and Sparkle Motion (13 wins, $30,000).

Black Magic Opal x Belt Up Tubsy

Magic keeps his wraps as a stud dog going via Black Opium, and Belt Up Tubsy, a winner at Sandown and Bendigo, is from the Barcia Bale-Size It Up litter that also included Cactus Jack (16 wins, $102,000). Belt Up Tubsy's only litter to race have all been winners.

Fernando Bale x Suffragette

Imagine what pups from this mating would have cost! Dam Suffragette won 13 and $192,000 in stakes and was the winner of the G2 Launching Pad. She was a special bitch from a special litter that also included Ebby Ripper (31 wins, $311,000), Ebby Chance (17 wins, $58,000), Utah Miss (19 wins, $53,000) etc.

Aston Dee Bee x Mepunga Fame

Rave reports about Dee Bee's first pups. Mepunga Fame (Premier Fantasy-Mepunga Jayelle) won 16 and $91,000 and was a finalist in the G1 Sapphire Crown and G2 McKenna Memorial. These pups are bred along similar lines to G1 star Mepunga Blazer.

Fernando Bale x Esparza

The dam was a Group star by Bekim Bale-Gogo Sutro bitch who won 10 races and $107,000 and was a sister to Margins (24 wins, $204,000) and Ringer (16 wins, $85,000). Her first litter has produced G1 finalist Stevick and the classy Blazing Cartier. The Fernando/Bekim cross has produced champ Tornado Tears.

Barcia Bale x Mepunga Focus

Mepunga Focus won five including a 700m at The Meadows and she is a daughter of G1 star Mepunga Nicky. When Nicky was mated to Barcia Bale it produced G1 winner and TR breaker Mepunga Blazer. The mating was a “must”.

Bella Infrared x Bella Shima

The G3 McKenna memorial 3rd Bella Shima (Barcia Bale-Shimaguni) is a litter sister to G1 winner Shima Bar and a half sister to Group star Shima Song (dam of $1m Chase 2nd Shima Shine, a son of Barcia Bale). The mating to outcross Bella Infrared was perfect.

My Redeemer x Pepper Fire

In 25 wins and $254,000 in stakes, the Spiral Nikita-West On Bluebird bitch Pepper Fire cemented her career with two G3 wins and she was 2nd in the G1 Perth Cup and a multiple Group finalist. From the family of legend Miata, Pepper Fire litter was fabulous and the mating to Melb Cup winner My Redeemer brings in a recreation of Miata.

Barcia Bale x Super Yesy

Super Yesy is a US bitch by Kiowa Mon Manny-Superior Laru by Kiowa Sweet Trey and she was a pretty smart race bitch making a number of feature race finals in the US. Barcia Bale has done spectacularly with US bitches.

Fernando Bale x Rippin' Rose

The dam won 10 races and was a finalist in the G1 Maturity and is a half sister to G1 star No Donuts from one of the strongest damlines in the country. Rose's litter brother was Group star Rippin' Hayne (19 wins, $103,000).

Fabregas x Van Ann

Dam Van Ann (Cosmic Rumble-Come On Luann) was a finalist twice in the G1 Sale Cup and also in the G1 Hume Cup and the G2 McKenna Memorial. She won 13 races and $59,000 and is from the wonderful broodbitch Come On Luann, the dam of five individual Group performers.
