Ebby Lamar Out Of National Sprint Final

EBBY Lamar has been scratched from Saturday night's Group 1 National Sprint Grand Final (520m) at Cannington.

The South Australian representative joins wild card Orson Allen on the sidelines for the $75,000 to-the-winner feature after the reigning Perth Cup winner was recently retired to stud.

The two scratchings opens the door for the Paul Stuart-trained duo Starlight Yoyo and Campini to line-up in Saturday night's final, joining fellow WA sprinter Premium Share, a resounding 29.66 winner of the WA qualifier for trainer Chris Halse.

Heading betting for the National Sprint decider is the Jason Thompson-trained Black Opium, the star daughter of Black Magic Opal chasing a breakthrough group 1 victory.

Runner-up at group 1 level on three occasions, Black Opium is a $2.30 favourite with BETEASY to land a deserved group 1 success, with second favourite Premium Share at $4.60.

Third favourite is the Paul Stuart-trained Campini at $5.00, while the only other runner under double figure odds is the Frank Hurst-trained Good Odds Harada, the NSW star quoted a $6.50 chance.

As expected, betting for the Group 1 National Distance Grand Final (715m) is far more lopsided with champion stayer Tornado Tears currently a $1.55 favourite with BETEASY.

Boasting the Cannington track record at 41.25, a time he posted in the Group 1 Galaxy heats earlier in the year, Tornado Tears will exit box five for trainer Rob Britton in Saturday night's feature, looking to defend his National Distance title.

Second favourite is Victorian qualifier Rajasthan, the Group 1 Sandown Cup winner currently a $6.00 chance, just ahead of WA representative Reidy's Runner at $6.50 for Christine Bennett.
