Electrified Does Just That At Albion Park Debut

STAR Western Australian youngster Electrified made a "hit and run" visit to Albion Park on Thursday night and electrified those on track.

STAR WA youngster Electrified made a “hit and run” visit to Albion Park on Thursday night and electrified those on track.

The son of Aussie Infrared and Miss America had arrived in Brisbane on Thursday afternoon, went a scorching 29.79 at his first look at the track, and was flown out first thing Friday morning.

He was flown in from Melbourne where he was after a disappointing Silver Chief heat run.

Popular local owner Clint Kratzmann handled Electrified for owner Steve Shinners and his trainer, wife Krystal.

Electrified, winner of 14 of his 19 starts and $112,000 in stakes, was on trial for the upcoming Group 2 Queensland Derby series at Albion Park.

“Very happy,” said Steve. “The good dogs have to run those sort of times first up on a track.

“We have flown him home to WA and we will get a run or possible two in at Cannington for him before he comes back for the Derby.

“I will also bring Amplified back with me for the big 600 metre race. She is not one who needs a look at a track.”

Amplified is coming off the Listed Anniversary Cup win at Cannington last Saturday and will target the Group 2 Golden Sands (600m) worth $113,000 and will be run on December 28 and January 5..

The Group 2 Queensland Derby (520m) series will be run on December 29 and January 5. The final is worth $75,000.

What pleased Shinners most is that he knows Electrified is “not a trial dog”.

“He always saves his best for a race,” he said.

Interestingly, Queensland's finalist in The Phoenix, Tyanna Belle, also trialled solo at Albion Park on Thursday night. Her sections were 5.56, 11.69 and 12.88 for an overall of 30.13.

Electrified went 5.60, 11.63 and came home in 12.56 for his overall of 29.79.

“I briefly spoke to Clint after the trial and both he and his mate Mick Zammit agreed Electrified felt his way around the track, especially early,” said Steve.

Shinners was disappointed he ran Electrified in the heats of the Silver Chief.

“He drew the eight which is a very tough box to win from in a tough race, he came up against four or five of the local stars, and never got into the race,” he said.

Electrified has already won the G3 Young Stars Classic and the Listed Peter Thomas at Cannington and been second in the G2 All Stars Sprint from just 19 starts.

“He's a super pup,” said Shinners.

Shinners could also bring Destruction, on the comeback after recovering from a fractured pelvis, to Queensland.
