Equalizer Has Everything And More For Stud Success

GROUP 1 winners by sire greats from damlines that keep tossing up superstars that can break records are a pretty good bet to succeed when they go to stud.

GROUP 1 winners by sire greats from dam-lines that keep tossing up superstars are a pretty good bet to succeed when they go to stud and those criteria are certainly how one would describe Equalizer.

To say Equalizer is a racetrack star is a bit of an understatement considering the fact he has started 48 times for 20 wins and 14 placings earning $395,000 along the way.

His Group 1 claim to fame is his fabulous 29.52 victory in the Brisbane Cup at Albion Park.

Add to that success in the Super Sprinters, also at Albion Park, placings at Group 2 level in the Warragul and Cranbourne Cups, and at Group 3 in the Speed Star cement his status among the best of his time.

But, add to this the fact he has been a finalist at Group 1 level in the Silver Chief, Temlee and Harrison Dawson and it is pretty obvious just what a track star he is.

His sire, KC And All, the US stud great who has impacted Aussie racing via the likes of Striker Light, Orson Allen, Aston Rupee, Aston Kimetto, Often Imitated, Degani, Campini and Bernardo means Equalizer fills the criteria of a successful sireline as well.

There is no doubting Equalizer's direct damline is something very, very special.

It traces directly to that most famous of race bitches Bay Road Queen who then became ma broodbitch to match, and surpass, her track deeds. This is the damline of Hall of Famers Flying Amy and Tenthill Doll, and also includes that champion sire Token Prince.

Equalizer's mother, Captivating, has become a breed shaper.

Her progeny also include champion Black Opium (Black Magic Opal-Captivating) and there have been few better race bitches in recent times. She, like her half brother, also won the Group 1 Brisbane Cup, but she added to that the Sapphire Crown to her success at the highest level.

Consider too that she was second in the Melbourne Cup, Australian Cup, and another Brisbane Cup, and was a finalist in the Golden Easter Egg, National Sprint, Topgun and the Million Dollar Chase … well, we all aspire to be a finalist in just one of those let alone those illustrious nine!

Equalizer comes from a litter that also includes Immunity (17 wins, $51,000, G2 Sandown Laurels.

It all adds up to Equalizer having everything he needs to go to stud, get the patronage he deserves, and then succeed.

AND, he has a pedigree that suits an influx of broodbitch lines.

He is an absolute “special” for daughters of Black Magic Opal to recreate Black Opium. Anyone can see that.

His mother, Captivating, is by Collision from a daughter of Bombastic Shiraz and his third dam is by Brett Lee and the fourth is by Token Prince. These bloodlines allow for multiple line breedings to occur.

Being 36.5kgs on the track, means Equalizer is also a “special” for matings to daughters of Fernando Bale who has a special “nick” happening with Collision (damsire of Equalizer). This Collision influence will also allow for line breeding to bitches with Cosmic Rumble in their make-up, and more and more of the Token Prince blood.

Fernando Bale is the sire of a special litter in Queensland out of Velocity Mist (Mogambo-Velocity Cloud) that includes Group performers Mayoress, Transgenic and Libby's Girl. Velocity Cloud is the second dam of Equalizer.

The Collision impact with Where's Pedro is strong and has been for a decade. Thus, bitches with an up close cross of Where's Pedro in their make-up appeal. Where's Pedro, and his brother Hallucinate, and half brother Pure Octane, are everywhere in pedigrees. Daughters of My Bro Fabio and My Redeemer (both of who have Where's Pedro as their damsire) appeal greatly.

Bitches with Mogambo are a MUST for Equalizer. The Collision/Mogambo cross is found in champs Good Odds Harada and Feral Franky and putting bitches with Mogambo in their pedigree to Equalizer will recreate this proven cross, a cross proven to Group 1 level and with Million Dollar Chase success.

Ipswich Gold Cup finalist, Not Held is by Mogambo-Velocity Cloud (2nd dam of Equalizer).

The Bombastic Shiraz influence in Equalizer makes him more than appealing for daughters of Zambora Brockie and Fabregas, and in the future Aston Dee Bee, all of who would provide a double of Bombastic Shiraz.

This can also be picked up through Bit Chili, Lochinvar Marlow, Velocette and the likes all of them sons of Bombastic Shiraz.

Bitches by Fabregas will hold special appeal for Equalizer. His second dam, Velocity Cloud, was mated to Path To Power (from Fabregas' direct damline) to produce a wonderful litter which included Powerhouse and Benarkin both Group performers.

And the very same can be said of Zambora Brockie. He is a son of Nitro Burst (by Bombastic Shiraz). Captivating's litter sister Velocity Shirl (G3 Qld Cup) was mated to Zambora Brockie to produce Group staying star Velocity Bettina.

The Zambora Brockie link with Equalizer is even further enhanced through the deeds of that special litter which includes stars Sequana, Stinger Noir, Made In America, No Easy Beat, Inspired Hope and Easy All all of them high class gallopers. They too are from the very same damline as Eqalizer.

Jubilation, yet another sister to Captivating, was mated to Kinloch Brae to produce Flynn (G3 Speed Star, Bendigo TR, finalist G1 Melbourne Cup, G2 Launching Pad, G1 Harrison Dawson).

The fact Equalizer's sire KC And All has worked so well with Barcia Bale's litter sister, Desalle Bale, to produce champion Orson Allen should not be lost on breeders with daughters of Barcia Bale.

The fact champion sprinter Striker Light is from the famed Gay's Fancy damline and by KC And All, is another strong breeding possibility with Equalizer.

There are just so many options available for breeders when looking to use Equalizer at stud.
