Exciting Hunter Fred Has The Aston Polish

RAY Borda joked that "no" he was not trying to get under price framers guard by naming the promising Hunter Fred without his usual "Aston" prefix.

RAY Borda joked today that “no” he was not trying to get under price framers guard by naming the highly promising Hunter Fred without his usual “Aston” prefix.

Hunter Fred is Borda bred by Aston Dee Bee-Aston Lopez and in four starts for trainer Anthony Azzopardi he has won three and runs in Sunday's finale of The Prospector (425m) at Bendigo.

“Yes, he is very promising,” said Ray.

“But, no, there is nothing to the naming of the dog other than he is owned by a group of good friends of mine.”

They are major racing and business associates of Borda.

The syndicate is: thoroughbred trainers Wayne Francis and Michael Hickmott, bloodstock agent Mitch Roach, major thoroughbred and harness owner Dave Reynolds, furniture factory owner Harold Lens and real estate developer Ben Howard.

“The trouble is, we have been trying to organise them all into a syndicate, but it has been very difficult to get it completed,” said Ray.

“Police checks need to be done, some are away, one is overseas. You get the picture.”

But the one common aspect of Hunter Fred's ownership is that they are all “over the moon” about how good he is and how much fun they are having.

“They all approached me about getting into a greyhound and it was not that easy just to find them a dog,” said Ray.

“I wanted it to be a quality dog.

“They are so excited about him and being part of his ownership.

“The dog was ready to race so he had to start under my ownership until we get things sorted with the syndication.

“These guys are big players in horses and business.

“But they are enjoying their first greyhound racing experience.”
