Farmor Beach Continues Ipswich Domination

BREEDER and part-owner Scott Duffy reckons his mate Steve Scott gets emotional whenever Farmor Beach wins - which he does regularly.

BREEDER and part-owner Scott Duffy reckons his mate Steve Scott gets emotional whenever Farmor Beach wins – which he does regularly.

But Duffy admits to being a “tad choked up” after Farmor Beach (Fernando Bale-Kinloch Beach) led throughout to win Thursday night's Group 2 Ipswich Gold Cup (520m) in a fast 30.32.

It was his second Group victory at the track following his debut series win in the time-honoured Group 3 Vince Curry Maiden earlier this year.

Farmor Beach scored by four lengths over Magical Bill with another two and a half lengths to Flying Jet in third.

All three placegetters are sons of Fernando Bale.

Steve Scott originally trained Farmor Beach but his father Wayne took over the training duties recently.

“Steve really gets emotional about this dog,” said Duffy.

“But, it's not hard to do that considering what he is achieving.”

That also includes victory in a Silver Dollars at Albion Park and a third in the Publicans' Cup there. He has won at Albion Park in 29.59.

“He is much better educated and more mature now,” said Duffy of the dog who had not even been trialled over 520m before the Vince Curry Maiden series back in February.

“Gee, we've had some luck at Ipswich in recent times.”

The future looks even brighter for Farmor Beach with a series of feature sprint races coming up at Albion Park over Christmas and the New Year.

“I leave all that to Steve and Wayne,” said Duffy. “Who knows what 2021 will hold for this dog.”

Duffy obviously rates Farmor Beach his best greyhound to date but he holds special affection for his first dog, Runya Beach, who gave him his first city success.

Dam Kinloch Beach has an 18 month old litter by Aston Dee Bee about to race and she also has a three month old repeat mating of four dogs and two bitches to Fernando Bale.

Duffy did a pup-share deal with the Scotts for the initial litter, but has decided to keep all this Fernando Bale litter for himself.

“We've got some very nice dogs about the country at the moment including Opal Beach in Victoria and John Dart has a special bitch called Lotties Beach who is putting together a great record and will head towards the Casino Cup,” he said.
