Field's Girls To Roll The Dice In Casino Cup
CHRIS Field has qualified Movie Girl and Masani Girl for the MDC semi-finals but believes he has a much more winnable target looming.
GRAFTON trainer Chris Field has qualified littermates Movie Girl and Masani Girl for the semi-finals of the Ladbrokes Million Dollar Chase (520m) at Wentworth Park on October 12, but believes he has a much more winnable target.
Movie Girl and Masani Girl (Orson Allen-Magical Mia) finished second and third to Jedda Cutlack's Duffman in the Grafton Regional MDC final (450m) last Sunday night.
The result qualified them for entry into the Million Dollar Chase semi-finals where 64 chasers will be eyeing a grand final berth.
"I really think they will struggle over the 520 metres," Field said.
"My main target for them is the Casino Cup in November.
"That is right up their alley."
The Group 3 Casino Cup (484m) will be run on November 15 and 22 with the final worth $25,000-to-the-winner.
"They both go great at Casino," said Chris of the two bitches. "And, I will also take Dad's Last Run for the Cup as well."
On Monday night, Field's star sprinter Field Day (Hooked On Scotch-Magical Mia) was brilliant in winning at Sandown Park in 29.15, scoring by almost nine lengths for trainer Jason Thompson.
"Jason has always said his target is the Melbourne Cup," Field said.
"Wouldn't it be nice to win that."
Field Day, a hulking 39.6kg dog, has now started 13 times for nine wins and two seconds.
"Jason can't wait for him to draw the red," he added.
Field's Million Dollar Chase plans for Movie Girl and Masani Girl face an interruption with Chris heading to the time-honoured Coonamble carnival, the last staging this long weekend.
Movie Girl (46 starts, 17 wins, 16 placings, $41,000) and Masani Girl (46 starts, 17 wins, 16 placings, $49,000) have remarkably similar race careers.
