Flaming Rose Set For Lismore Cup Assault

HIGH-class sprinter Flaming Rose is getting towards the end of her career but is still going strong enough to take on Tuesday's Lismore Cup heats.

HIGH-class sprint bitch Flaming Rose is getting towards the end of her career, but is still going strong enough to take on Tuesday's heats of the Group 2 Lismore Gold Cup (484m) at Casino.

The daughter of Aston Dee Bee and Jay Bay Queen has been plagued with niggling injuries in recent times.

That has restricted her to just 34 starts but she is the winner of 23 races and been placed seven times with stakes earnings of more than $58,000.

FIELDS AND FORM CASINO TUESDAY

The Capalaba Futurity winner, she was also third in the Group 3 Ipswich Auction in 2021.

Part-owner and trainer Jason Schmidt trialled her at Casino 10 days ago and he was satisfied with the performance.

“I was happy with that, but she is going up against a very good field,” he said.

Those rivals include recent Group 3 Casino Cup runner-up, star galloper Respectability and brilliant bitch Tungsten Miss who is coming off a third to Tyanna Belle in the Listed Queensland Flame.

“The Cup heats are very strong but Casino is a leaders' track and I'm hoping she can jump well,” Schmidt said.

“She has a couple of vacant boxes on her outside.”

Flaming Rose has raced just six times in 2022 winning in fast times at Ipswich three times.

“Niggling injuries have crept up on her all the time,” he said. “It's just been one after another.

“She went into her run at Capalaba (2nd on November 20) underdone and she will be a little underdone for Tuesday night's heat.”

The bitch is heading towards the Golden Oldies at Albion Park in January and that is likely to be her swansong.

“We are looking at either Out Of Range or Equalizer for her when she has her first litter,” he said.

Jason has a litter by Hooked On Scotch from  Flaming Rose's dam Jay Bay Queen and one of the three offspring is showing so much potential he is being set for the prestigious Vince Curry Maiden at Ipswich in the New Year.
