Jay Is Jay Flying Ahead Of Golden Ticket Return

JAY Is Jay makes his return to racing off box one in a heat of the Golden Ticket on Thursday night, a race he won in a dead-heat in 2023.

SUPERSTAR Jay Is Jay makes his return to racing off box one in a heat of the Group 3 Golden Ticket (520m) at Albion Park on Thursday night a race he won in a dead-heat in 2023.

The Selena Zammit-trained son of Sennachie-Kealoah has not raced since finishing a luckless seventh in The Phoenix at The Meadows on December 16.

But he slipped post to post at Albion Park last week in a flying 24.03 to help bring him back to peak fitness for this week's series.

FIELDS AND FORM ALBION PARK THURSDAY NIGHT

“He had not had a circle run for three weeks so the slip will do him the world of good,” Mick Zammit, husband of trainer Selena, said today.

“He's well, looks well and the four-dog format for the heats of this series really suits him especially in his return to racing.

“He has broken 24 seconds for a post to post slip in the past.”

Jay Is Jay dead heated with WA star Throttle in last year's G3 Golden Ticket to win his way straight to the final of the G1 Gold Bullion.

Throttle and Jay Is Jay both clocked 29.52 in the two-dog finals of the Golden Ticket which forced a ballot to allow one into the Gold Bullion which Jay Is Jay won.

It was later revealed Jay Is Jay had actually gone quicker if the “thousandths” of a second was considered.

Jay Is Jay then finished second to Hello Mike beaten just a length in the Gold Bullion.

At his very next race start, Jay Is Jay smashed his sire Sennachie's Albion Park 520m track record running 29.35.

Jay Is Jay is perfectly placed off the rails in his four-dog heat and meets Caramel Queen, Multi Matt and Blue Hornet.

The second heat comprises King Of Aces, Dino Way, Professor Snitch and Times Three.

The third has Saanvi, Get Carter, Captain Larry and Hello Mike.

The fourth heat sees Oh Minnie, Saige Tenniele, Another Chance and Inconspicuous clash.

Jay Is Jay has now raced 38 times for 19 wins and nine placings earning $1.46 million.
