Flying Trial Confirms Qld Carnival Assault

A flying trial has convinced Kody Charles his Group 1 winner Saige Tenniele deserves her chance in Queensland's upcoming Summer Carnival.

A FLYING Mandurah trial has convinced WA trainer Kody Charles his Group 1 National Sprint winner Saige Tenniele deserves her chance in Queensland's up-coming Summer Racing Carnival.

The daughter of Bernardo-Abstract Miss ran 21.92 over the 400m, a tick under the 21.94 track record held by Cubit Monelli.

Cubit Monelli ran the 488m track record at Mandurah of 26.78 on Friday.

Saige Tenniele was on trial for the Queensland trip and also to see how she had recovered from a fall at Cannington in the Anniversary Cup series on December 9.

Her trial convinced Charles she should go to Queensland.

“I will put her on the red eye from Perth on Tuesday night and she will go over to Rob Essex in Queensland,” said Kody.

“Rob will trial her around Albion Park on the Thursday night and I will fly over on Boxing Day and spend a month there with her and a couple of other bitches that will go as well.

“My immediate aim for Saige is the Golden Sands her first try at 600 metres,” he said.

“Then she can drop back to the 520 metres for the Golden Ticket and Gold Bullion.”

There are a number of glamour races programmed at Albion Park.

They include:

G1 Golden Sands (600m) heats Dec 27, final Jan 4

G2 Golden Ticket (520m) heats Jan 11, final Jan 18

G1 Gold Bullion (520m) heats Jan 25, final Feb 1

G1 Gold Cup (710m) heats Jan 25, final Feb 1

Charles will also send kennelmate, Rare Speed (Bernardo-On The Runway) the winner of five of 11 starts and a litter sister to The Phoenix finalist Pass The Buck.

And, also going is Daddy's Girl (Tommy Shelby-Joker Poker) the winner of four of her 11 starts but significantly she downed Cubit Monelli at Mandurah two starts back.

“They will trial at Albion Park on Thursday night and maybe the Futurity series will be their ideal target,” said Kody.

“I'm planning on staying for a month in Queensland to give Saige her chance at all those big races.

“I thought she was very unlucky not to have won a heat of the Melbourne Cup (she was third to Make No Promise).”
