Fred Rocks To Group 3 Super Stayers Success

BEDROCK Fred has launched to favouritism for the Queensland Cup with a dazzling victory in Thursday's Group 3 Super Stayers Invitational.

BEDROCK Fred has launched to favouritism for the Group 1 Queensland Cup with a dazzling victory in Thursday night's Group 3 Garrard's Super Stayers Invitational (710m).

The much-travelled stayer was simply awesome in the four-dog invitation, leading virtually throughout in a slashing 41.42 to better the 41.60 he posted when annexing last week's Group 3 Dashing Corsair.

In career best form, the son of Spring Gun will now ready for a second crack at the lucrative Queensland Cup for Tony Brett after finishing seventh in last year's decider.

Ironically, it was another grand South Australian stayer Sir Truculent that won last year's Queensland Cup for stand-in trainer Tony Brett.

And in his rich vein of form, Bedrock Fred roars into next week's Queensland Cup heats in spectacular form for Brett and his proud South Australian connections Stewart and Cherylee Barber.

Winner at 15 of his 59 career starts, Bedrock Fred has elevated himself from a good stayer to being on the verge of group 1 greatness in just a matter of weeks.

With $150,000 awaiting the winning connections of this year's Queensland Cup, next week's heats are sure to be brimful of talent.

But they are all chasing a fit and firing Bedrock Fred which will be looking to continue his unblemished 2022 Queensland winter carnival campaign.

Earlier in the program, trainer Tony Brett's night got off to a flying start when grand chaser Equalizer annexed the Group 3 Super Sprinters (520m).

Prepared by elite Victorian trainer Jason Thompson, Equalizer made it back-to-back Super Sprinter victories with a last stride win over fellow Tony Brett charge Orchestrate.

Equalizer will now ready for a tilt at defending his Group 1 Brisbane Cup title as he continues his meteoric return from a career threatening injury.
