Wyndra Back To Her Best Ahead Of Nationals

DANIEL Gatt believes Wyndra All Class is right back at her top ahead of Saturday's NSW National Sprint Championship heats at Wentworth Park.

DANIEL Gatt believes his kennel star Wyndra All Class is right back at the top of her game ahead of Saturday night's NSW National Sprint Championship Heat (520m) at Wentworth Park.

Gatt conceded the National Futurity winner was below her best after a trip to Brisbane to represent NSW in the Origin Greyhound Series in June.

After returning home, Wyndra All Class was beaten in four runs before turning things around last time out at Wentworth Park on July 26, winning a free-for-all in 29.86s.

"Coming back from Queensland she just wasn't at her best," Gatt said.

"I think the boxes up there with their real high grills confused her a bit.

"Travelling on a plane for the first time, a new environment, I think the whole experience got to her.

"She's just taken a little while to get back into the swing of things but I reckon she's there now."

On Saturday night, Wyndra All Class contests the second of three heats for the NSW Nationals ahead of next Thursday's final and Gatt says the box draw where his charge drew seven, had fallen into place.

"I'm not complaining about the box draw, it's where she wants to be and her record off the wide draws is pretty solid," he said.

"It's a pretty good race, there's a few nice dogs in it.

"The one (We Don't Share) and the two (Modern Swinger) go good and obviously (Zipping) Novak's fast.

"I've also got a good opinion of Father Rick, I reckon he's going super.

"She's going to have to be right on her game but I'm really happy with how she's going."

Wyndra All Class is one of the best-known chasers in NSW due to the sad but inspiring story of her late owner Sue Barton who recently passed away after a brave fight against brain cancer.

"There's no doubt she's a very special dog," Gatt said.

"I've never been involved in one that's meant so much to me and we all know what she means to Brian (Sue's husband) and the family.

"Hopefully she can do it again for Sue on Saturday night."
