Garrard's Get Behind Coonamble

A chance meeting at leading harness racing identity Luke McCarthy's has led to Garrard's Horse And Hound sponsoring this year's October long weekend Coonamble Carnival.

"I ran into Kevin Gordon at Luke's place a month or so back and he pitched an idea to me about Garrard's getting involved with sponsorship at the Coonamble carnival," said Daren Garrard.

"Garrard's was involved at Coonamble back when Paul Ambrosoli was looking after things and when that finished we lost connection but we are really looking forward to getting back involved in the carnival this year. Greyhound racing sponsorship at grass roots level is a perfect fit for us."

With the Coonamble Carnival a highlight on the country racing calendar each and every October, Garrards' signing has paved the way for event organiser Kevin Gordon to begin bedding down the carnival's race program, expected to be released in the coming month.

"Everything is all but finalised now, we'll look to release full details in the next 4-6 weeks," declared Gordon.

"A big thank you to Garrard's for their sponsorship, I speak on behalf of the Coonamble Club and all the participants that support the carnival each year when I say their contribution is appreciated by all.

"As the landscape of greyhound racing continues to change, not only preserving, but growing the Coonamble Carnival is an important step for the industry – Garrards' commitment goes a long way to achieving that.
