Gets Late Early Wins Brother Fox Thriller

A Group 1 National Futurity, Group 2 Gosford Gold Cup and now a Group 2 Brother Fox ... that's the feature record of Gets Late Early.

A Group 1 National Futurity, Group 2 Gosford Gold Cup and now a Group 2 Ladbrokes Brother Fox.

That's the stellar feature race resume of Gets Late Early following her narrow yet determined victory in Dubbo's flagship event on Saturday night.

Trained by Minnie Finn, Gets Late Early edged out the Jason Magri-trained Speedy Pie to land the Brother Fox by a neck in 29.49.

Finishing third was another Magri-trained runner In Zipping Kristoff while the Finn-trained Both Bowers Ace, a litter brother to the winner, finished fourth.

For Gets Late Early, it was the daughter of Flying Ricciardo and Poco Dorado's 31st victory from a career spanning 87 starts with her prize money tally reaching $363,000.

It's been a rapid rise for the regally bred chaser which won just one of her first eight starts.

"The whole litter broke in very ordinary but we just kept poking along with them and they've ended up alright," Finn told thedogs.com.au.

"She's got so much determination, aims up every week and doesn't know how to give up.

"Track, distances, boxes don't worry her. She just gets out there and does her thing."

Gets Late Early set the Brother Fox marker with a flying 29.49 heat success and backed that effort up by recording an identical time in the final.

Remarkably, she won both races by a neck as well.

On the strength of her most recent feature race triumph, Finn is hopeful Gets Late Early can force her way into the field to represent NSW in the State Of Origin Sprint at The Q Parklands next month.

"If the selectors are looking at her we'll get up there and trial but if not we'll go to Gunnedah (for the Chief Havoc)," Finn added.

On a huge night of racing at Dubbo, the $20,000-to-the-winner Peg & Bill Miller Memorial (516m) was taken out by El Ray for David Pringle in 29.49.

The Zipping Kyrgios At Stud Mega Maiden (318m) was won by Babette Fusion for Kylie McDonald in 18.43 while the Feral Franky At Stud Future Stars (400m) went to Westside Bliss for Ricky Brewer in 22.85.
