Gifted Whiskey Riot Youngster Mackenna Sold

EXCEPTIONAL youngster Mackenna, a one time Million Dollar Chase equal favourite, has been sold for an undisclosed sum.

EXCEPTIONAL youngster Mackenna has been sold for an undisclosed sum.

The gifted daughter of Whiskey Riot and Alcyone will do her future racing for Victorian trainer Paul Abela following her purchase by kennel owner George Alvaro from Michelle Carruthers and Lee Moore.

"Really excited to get her; she's a top quality bitch as we've seen," Abela said.

"But we won't see her until the new year. The day before we got her she came on season but it's not the end of the world as it gives her a good bit of time to settle in.

“Without going into the specifics all I know is both parties are happy with where things ended up. That's the main thing.”

Winner at eight of her 13 starts, Mackenna shot to Million Dollar Chase equal favouritism when creating headlines following her well publicised 29.32 at Wentworth Park in the lead-up to the semi-finals.

That semi-final berth was booked on the back of consecutive Temora wins where she safely accounted for group 1 winning star Baby Jaycee.

"She's still only 22 months so it's all still ahead of her," Abela said.

"A race like the National Futurity in January should work in well."

The purchase of Mackenna by Alvaro and associates is a timely replacement for budding star Cruise Mode which was retired in August following injury.

"She was recently served by Barcia Bale," Abela said.

"The boys are pretty excited."
