Golden Girls On MDC Collision Course

HUGELY exciting bitches French Martini and Yuko Girl will take a giant stride towards the pointy end of the TAB Million Dollar Chase when they clash in the Gosford regional final on Tuesday night.

Last week the gifted duo won their respective heats in sublime fashion, French Martini scoring for Peter Lagogiane in 29.27 while Yuko Girl led all-the-way in 29.47.

Back In April, Yuko Girl, a daughter of Zambora Brockie, raced away for a flying 29.22 Gosford victory to take out the regional finale of the first Million Dollar Chases in 2022. 

French Martini had her first look at @GossyGreys tonight… and she liked it! She easily won regional ht 2 of the @tabcomau #MillionDollarChase in 29.27, with Analysing, Vencedor and One Smart One behind her.

With Wow She's Fast certain to miss the MDC and a slight cloud over the preparation of reigning winner She's A Pearl, the door is ajar for a budding star to jump out of the ground for next month's million dollar showpiece.

And when it comes to sheer talent, both French Martini and Yuko Girl are right up to the task, making Tuesday night's Gosford decider all the more intriguing.

Bookmaker TAB has the Peter Lagogiane-trained French Martini the $2.30 favourite ahead of the Sam Sultana-trained Yuko Girl at $2.70.

The second of Lagogiane's runners, Ziggy Star, a sister to Miss Ezmae, is a $6 third elect from box one.

But on facts and figures it's hard to suggest the winner will come from outside the top pair in betting on the strength of their blistering heat wins last Tuesday and their body of work in recent months.

Interestingly, French Martini is currently a $10 third favourite in all-in betting for the Million Dollar Chase behind She's A Pearl at $3.60 and Wow She's Fast at $8.

Wow She's Fast is listed as doubtful but you can take it as read she won't contest the series.

The first three across the line in Tuesday night's Gosford regional finale will progress through to the semi-finals slated for Wentworth Park on September 16.

And in the form of French Martini and Yuko Girl we see two legitimate chances of making an impression when the series reaches its crescendo.
